The odds that Terrell Owens will get another shot in the NFL get slimmer by the year.

With each new draft class of youngsters that come in with solid hands and speed to burn, Owens looks less and less like a viable option.

His ability as one of the league’s greatest pure route runners is over-shadowed by past incidents which have caught up with him.

Take all of that and factor in a murky preseason with Seattle in 2012 in which his penchant for dropping balls stepped it up a notch.

So, its time for the third annual Terrell Owens hopefully-I-can-get-somebody’s-attention-in-the-front-office press junket.

This year’s primary target?

The Chicago Bears.

Owens told CSN that he has both logic and strategy on his side.

“I played my first early years in San Francisco with [Bears head coach Marc Trestman] and shortly after that, he left to do some things,” he said. “I haven’t talked to Marc in a long while. I know he’s gone on and done some things, now he’s back in the NFL. So, I never really thought about it until myself and Napoleon were talking about it earlier, but I would definitely welcome it if they would give it some serious consideration. To think about [Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall] on the other side and me on one side, that’s really dangerous. I’m keeping myself in shape just for any opportunity that may come about.”

Let’s not be cruel but the obvious point can’t be overlooked here.

Marshall is an interesting well…character. Owens is the epitome of the interesting character.

Bears quarterback Jay Cutler is prone to his moments of acting out like an interesting character.

Running back Matt Forte has shown that he has the tendency to be a little sensitive at times.

A first year NFL head coach that is returning to the league after an extended stint in the CFL certainly does not want to flirt with that nervous breakdown waiting to happen.

Cutler and Marshall  cancel each other out because they have an understanding and fondness for each other that dates back to their time in Denver.

Cutler quickly bonded with Forte upon his arrival after being traded away from the Broncos.

Throwing Owens into the mix would be entertaining for us and potentially destructive for the accord of that locker room

In the long-term, the development of sophomore receiver Alshon Jeffery would be held hostage.

There are definitely more cons than pros with Owens landing in the Windy City.

  • I can not bear the thought of the Bears employing Owens. However, if Terrell would agree to paying the Bears for the priviledge to play again in the NFL while duct taping his mouth then things might work out.
  • Why do you keep peddeling this low tier crap.Go help your mom
  • T.O. needs to realize one thing. He had some talent a few years back but he wasted his legacy with his antics. No one cares whether he plays another down or not.

This is a cancer to any team.

If he has truly changed his ways; he needs to sign at the rookie minimum with incentives to include, no arrests, no drug use, no temper tantrums etc. There is one other thing, if he has an episode, he is through with the team and the contract is void. He will produce a Bond to reimburse the team if he has a meltdown.

If he is now a team player, he will do the things a team player does.

He will need to learn that he is not the team. There are 10 other guys on the field wearing the same uniform.

There are less troublesome players available. T.O. needs to know this and accept this. Will this happen, I doubt it.

  • T.O. stands for To Old
  • Who's Old?
  • I wish this cancer would just go away. He is a talented cancer but a cancer non the less.
  • I like how Terrell Owens thinks not only will the NFL give him another shot, that he can pick and choose which team to play for.
  • Ohhh HELL NO! If there was ever an opposite attitude for the Bears, he is it! Go away already dude and get the hell away from my (our) team! We don't need you, Jeffery on the otherside of the field is like a mimic of Marshall. Does someone have any ointment for this bad T.O. rash that keeps coming back?
  • Some guys just aren't meant to be around. The loud mouthed prima donnas in the NFL who practiced hubris in their heyday should all be sitting on the sideline. Payback is a MF. The game is about football (lingerie ball by today's standards) and not about them.
  • He needs to go away
  • Give him a chance to prove his worth, DA Bears could use some help to reach the Big Game.
  • Two Words: Washington Redskins

    One Name: Mike Shanahan

    One Question: Why

    One Answer: Just Do it!
  • Hey, Terrell, Baby; just change your position to QUARTERBACK and Rex "IDIOT" Ryan will bring you in to compete vs Mark Sackchez and Tim Teblows. Lie to the Jets and tell 'em you were a QB all thru High School, College and the 49ers turned you into a wide receiver. Bill Romanowski taught you how to SPIT on your opponents. Yep, I'd say you are READY for the NFL qb position.
    GO Jets NOT
  • Hey T. O.,The first time you opened your big mouth you should have been banned from the game, your a douchebag,go jump off a cliff!
  • T.O. - you had your moment in the Lights . Now please - GO AWAY !!
  • I think T.O. would be a great with the Bears. He's in perfect shape to run Gatorade out to the real fotball players during timeouts!
  • Just like a leopard that can't change his spots, so goes T.O. What makes anyone (sucker) believe that he would be a valuable addition to an NFL franchise? The first time he was open and didn't get thrown to, all hell would break loose the next time he left the field. Who does he think he is? Why should anyone put up with that idiocy? My guess is that he needs a contract to pay all the alimony and child support that his exes are due. Sorry T.O, in addition to being Too Old, you're Totally Obsolete!
  • Stop calling him a cancer because that is a serious disease and I don't like that word. Everybody deserve another chance.
  • Be quiet
  • Your mom's a cancer.
  • Sign him up with the Patriots! Brady needs another target. Terrell can be bought cheap! Terrell can be the Moss of 2013!

If there is any gas left in Terrell's tank, let the Pat's burn it up!
  • "Terrell Owens wants to play for the Chicago Bears"

    Play what, a violin?
  • he burnt a lot of bridges during & after his philly stint
  • Sad human being.....assuming he IS human.

Terrell Owens to the Chicago Bears? Sounds Good to Him...

When Terrell Owens talks, people listen. Maybe it is because he is a little on the self-absorbed side and tends to say the wrong thing a lot. Or maybe it is because the man is still an incredible athlete and will go down as one of the greatest wide receivers whether he plays the game again or not. Which...

Jay Cutler and Sookie are Twins: Is Jay Cutler the Bear’s Quarterback of the Future?

How many people here watch True Blood? I admit, I’m a little embarrassed to say I watch the show. But it sure was entertaining when it started. And wow, did that show eventually go off the rails. I mean, I can buy that some random old vampire in a made up town called Bon Temps would fancy some girl named Sookie that can read minds. Heck, her name is Sookie...

Devin Hester wants to retire. Devin Hester is only going to return kicks. Devin Hester is ok just returning kicks. 2013 NFL Draft Team Needs: Chicago Bears

1. Inside Linebacker: With Urlacher gone, Chicago needs someone else to man middle linebacker position. They will probably take one with their first or second round pick. Alec Ogletree looks like he might be there for them with the 20th overall pick. 2. Offensive Tackle: Despite being a major need, Chicago probably won't address this until the later rounds. This is because...

What is the Chicago Bears Biggest Need?

It seems like such a simple question, but no one can provide a definitive answer. In free agency, the Bears did quite a bit in terms of addressing some of their most glaring needs. The offensive tackle, tight end, and linebacker positions were all upgraded. But with the NFL Draft less than a week away, predictions are still all over the board for who the Bears may take with the 20th...
