DeMarco Murray’s rookie season if officially over.
Not that this came as a surprise following Sunday night’s loss to the Giants, in which Murray suffered a fractured right ankle, but he underwent surgery on the ankle on Monday and was placed on injured reserve on Tuesday, per the Dallas Morning News. Dallas replaced Murray on the roster with the signing of Sammy Morris today, an 11-year veteran last with the New England Patriots.
Murray was injured at the end of an eight-yard run on a draw play, when Giants’ defensive lineman Dave Tollefson tackled him from behind, landing on the rookie’s ankles. The Oklahoma product attempted to get up after the tackle, but quickly crumpled back to the ground.
Following early reports that his season was done, Murray expressed optimism for the future via Twitter. He tweeted, sic of course, "God is too good! Minor setback but guarantee I'll be back a better football player! Love my teammates and #cowboynation! Thanks for support!!"
