Found August 22, 2013 on Eagles Faithful:
After listening tothe sports announcement this week,  I heard Chip Kelly finally picked his starting quarterback.  Anyone know who he picked? I am just kidding.  We get the Michael Vick experience for at least one more year. In Chip we trust, so let’s just hope he made the right decision. Other than the quarterbackdebate, it has been a pretty quiet week on the Eagle’s front. So, this week I have decided to write a little story about my favorite Eagle and why. Around the prime age of ten,  my father took me to a Monday night football game.  My dad and his friends decided to drive to the stadium, park, and take the subway into south Philly for some authentic Italian cuisine.  During our walk tothe train, we happened to pass by the old Veterans stadium and saw a mini crowd forming around a certain car.  As we approached the car, we saw Eagles linebacker # 56 Byron Evans signing autographs for fans.  I bolted over to him and asked Byron if he would sign my t-shirt.  He signed my t-shirt with pleasure. I still have that t-shirt (see below). He asked me my name and even started a little conversation.  Being ten years old and meeting a football player on your favorite team, man did I think I was special.  From that point on Byron Evans was one of my favorite Eagles of all time.   Fast forward to my college days at the University of Arizona, I am now 19  years old and attending my first Homecoming game at Arizona Stadium.  Arizona is not really known as a football powerhouse so we normally left games around halftime.  But this was Homecoming, so we decided to stay.  The halftime included past alumni of the football team being introduced at the 50 yard line.  I had no idea but Byron Evans was an alumni of The University of Arizona, what a coincidence.  Now my favorite Eagle and I have a common bond, it was a really cool feeling. As soon as the ceremony was over, I ran down to the gate that separated the field and the drunken student section.  I wasable to get Byron’s attention and proceed to tell him the same exact story.  He was just as nice of a guy that day then as he was almost ten years ago.   The post My Favorite Eagle from the Past appeared first on Eagles Faithful.
