Nate Hobbs Enters Second Year in Patrick Graham's System
USA TODAY Sports

The Las Vegas Raiders dealt with quite the challenge of learning a new system a year ago when Coach Josh McDaniels and a nearly completely revamped coaching staff came in.

For players like cornerback Nate Hobbs going into their second year at the time, they had to pivot from having a full year of an NFL system under their belt to having to learn a new one the very next season.

Now, Hobbs prepares for his second year in defensive coordinator Patrick Graham's offense, and the hurdle of adjustment is behind him as he focuses on a new campaign.

"After you get a year's worth of experience in -- I don't care what it is, anything -- you got a whole year's worth, it's like, 'All right, cool,'" Hobbs said when he joined theĀ "BLACKOUT Podcast" on Sunday. "And you're really studying, you know what you're doing. When you get to the point you can teach it to somebody else [and] you know what the hell you're doing, I feel like I can teach most of that defense to somebody else if I had to.

"It's definitely a level of comfort I have and I don't have to think too much and do too much and I got better field awareness and who's going to be where and where I got to be. And I can focus on the offense now, like what they're going to do. Because I know exactly where I got to be and what my job is."

The Las Vegas Raiders open training camp for the entire team on July 25, 2023.

The Silver and Black open the preseason by hosting the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, Aug. 13, at 4 p.m. EDT/1 p.m. PDT.
