It's not easy to make a name for yourself at a rookie minicamp if you're not one of the players who just got drafted by a team.
Just ask new Kansas City Chiefs offensive tackle, Sebastian Gutierrez. Against all odds, he stood out at Kansas City's recent rookie minicamp and earned himself a roster spot as well as a brand-new shiny NFL contract.
That's not bad for an offensive tackle from D-II Minot State University (North Dakota).
The Chiefs announced the signing of Gutierrez on their website, pointing out the fact there were 51 tryout players at the camp and almost 80 players overall — including their seven draft picks.
If you're into math, among the tryout players, Gutierrez had a 0.019% chance of being spotted. His 6-foot-5, 308-pound frame certainly helped him in that regard, though.
Gutierrez signed with the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent after the 2022 NFL Draft. He got cut by Denver before the season but was picked up by the Las Vegas Raiders and appeared in their Week 16 contest against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
That's not a whole lot of experience, but Gutierrez apparently impressed Kansas City's staff enough to earn himself a roster spot as well as a payday.
