New Jersey governor Chris Christie had some harsh words for New York Daily News reporter Manish Mehta today. Christie clearly didn’t like that his buddy Rex Ryan was asked by Mehta if rookie Geno Smith will start week one now that Mark Sanchez is injured, per The Big Lead. Chris Christie, the Governor of New Jersey, went on WFAN radio in New York this morning and called an NFL reporter an “idiot” and a “dope.” What could generate such a harsh response from the Governor about a reporter? Well, Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News was doing his job, and apparently if you ask penetrating questions about Christie’s friend Rex Ryan, you’ll get called names. “Idiot. The guy’s a complete idiot. Self-consumed, underpaid, reporter … the only way he’s empowered is because we’re spending all this time talking about Manish Mehta this morning … Who, by the way, I couldn’t pick out of a lineup and no Jets fan gives a damn about Manish Mehta … We shouldn’t be giving this dope, you know, the amount of airtime we’ve given him already,” said Christie, via Bob’s Blitz. I would really love to know why Christie got so upset over a Jets reporter.         Need NFL Tickets? Loading... Rex Ryan's postgame meltdown

NYDN calls Chris Christie a ‘fatso’

The New York Jets, Rex Ryan and the leader of the state of NJ are to blame for the following. Chris Christie, the rather large and in charge governor for the great state of NJ went on WFAN on Monday to discuss one of his favorite topics, the Jets. Christie is a die-hard fan, and took umbrage to New York Daily News beat reporter Menish Mehta and his line of questioning to Ryan following...

A New Fan Favorite Emerges

Florham Park, NJ – "You never know.'A fitting way to describe Ryan Spadola's chances coming into training camp this year, and the words the undrafted rookie receiver out of Lehigh used to describe his thoughts coming into work today: the first cut day.But after a game in which Spadola pulled in three catches for 110 yards and a touchdown, it would've been a shock...

Geno Smith Looks Too Happy To See Mark Sanchez Get Hurt

That was Jets quarterback Geno Smith looking on as Mark Sanchez leaves the game in the fourth quarter with a shoulder injury against the Giants.  There’s no denying the semi-evil smirk on his face as if he’s saying “I just became a starting NFL quarterback, let’s go.”  Sanchez and Smith have been competing with each other in a lesser-of-two-evils position battle all training...
DO IT LIKE ORLOVSKY

Geno Smith runs out the back of end zone

New York Jets rookie quarterback Geno Smith has had an absolutely terrible night in his first NFL start. He currently has three interceptions and just did his best Dan Orlovsky impression, running out of the back of the end zone while trying to avoid a sack. The only person happy to see all of this transpire has to be Mark Sanchez.

Rex Ryan Era Coming to a Close?

Rex Ryan has taken heat following Saturday night, for sending Mark Sanchez in the game during the fourth quarter of the 'MetLife Bowl', to play with backups. Sanchez injured his right shoulder joint, as a result of a blow. In the press conference, following the game, Ryan got slightly aggravated (somewhat reasonably so) due to repeated questions from NYDN's Manish...

Sanchez on bike at start of Jets practice

New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez, dealing with a shoulder injury, is at practice riding a stationary bike but unlikely to participate in any throwing drills. During the 30-minute window that reporters are allowed to watch, Sanchez was among a group off to the side of the practice field and had his right arm at his side as he pedaled. The Jets announced Sunday that Sanchez...

Poor Rex Ryan and His Snoopy Paradox

Rex Ryan apparently pissed off the quarterback Gods somewhere along the way. Geno Smith threw three picks against the Giants Sunday, while Mark Sanchez was injured after playing well.

Jets say Sanchez day-to-day with shoulder injury

The New York Jets say quarterback Mark Sanchez is ''day-to-day'' with an injured right shoulder that will sideline him for the preseason finale against Philadelphia on Thursday night. The team did not announce the nature or severity of the injury, suffered in the Jets' 24-21 overtime victory over the Giants on Saturday night. Sanchez had an X-ray after the game...

Mark Sanchez's injury may simplify Jets' season

Just when it looked like Mark Sanchez had the Jets’ quarterback competition wrapped up, he may have been dealt a bad break, handing the job back to Geno Smith. Mark Sanchez exited the Jets’ game against the New York Giants after being hit by defensive tackle Marvin Austin with an apparent throwing-shoulder injury. Sanchez played very little, with the Jets instead taking an...

Five things to know from Jets-Giants game

The New York Jets came into their annual preseason game against the Giants hoping to gain some clarity in their quarterback competition. It suddenly got more muddled. Rookie Geno Smith was spotty, at best, in a turnover-filled performance in the Jets' 24-21 overtime victory Saturday night. Even worse, Mark Sanchez injured his right shoulder late in the game - playing behind...

Jets' QB situation somehow gets even worse

BY NICK ST. DENISThe New York Jets entered the third week of the NFL preseason with an undecided positional competition between a rookie quarterback who probably isn't ready and a veteran quarterback who is clinging to the starting job only by default. They finished the third week of the preseason with an undecided competition between a rookie quarterback who definitely isn'...
