Okay, I said it in the description and that is the only time I will mention bounties in this piece.I will talk about the one area of the team that I believe has the most to potentially gain or lose during this season.  In 2012 the New Orleans Saints will have had three different men fill the role of head coach. The main man, Sean Payton is suspended for the season because of you-know-what, and the franchise decided to name longtime coordinator Joe Vitt the interim coach during Payton's absence.  But a funny thing happened on the way to Bourbon Street, as the NFL also suspended Vitt for six games for his role in the not-to-be-named scandal.  Which beings us to the third banana in this barrel of monkeys, Aaron Kromer, the man tabbed with leading the Saints for the first six weeks of the season, at which time Vitt would resume control. What does this all mean?  This one-team coaching carousel could usher in a myriad of changes across the NFL, as well as at home in New Orleans.  Befor...

Saints coach should be freed, too

Free Sean Payton. Or at least be real about why he's really being punished. The New Orleans Saints coach was suspended for all of this season because, we were told, he failed to stop a "bounty program," a program that allegedly paid players for injuring opponents, a program that tore at the basic contract of the game. All of this had been swallowed as gospel until...

Goodell may still suspend reinstated Saints bounty players

A collective bargaining agreement appeals panel overturned the NFL's suspensions of four players involved in the New Orleans Saints "bounty" program. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell can still suspend the players if he proves there was intent to injure.  The four players are eligible to play this Sunday. "Consistent with the panel's decision, Commissioner...

Washington at New Orleans Week 1 NFL Game Preview

Drew Brees and Jimmy Graham were quite the unstoppable force last season setting records that nobody saw coming. The balance from the run game truly made the New Orleans offense tops in the NFL. Plus, a healthy Mark Ingram could take this team towards another postseason appearance since he gives the team a solid north-south ground game that they have not seen since Deuce McAllister...

Drew Brees, Bountygate, and the ghost of Gregg Williams, await the Redskins in New Orleans

2009 Image Source: Chris McGrath/Getty Images North America via Zimbio.comThe Washington Redskins open the NFL season against the New Orleans Saints this Sunday. Purdue will honor Neil Armstrong with helmet decal

They call Purdue “The Cradle of Quarterbacks,” and given that the school has produced names like Drew Brees, Kyle Orton, and yes, the immortal Gary Danielson, it seems like an appropriate nickname. However, when the current group of Boilermakers takes the field on Saturday against Notre Dame, the school will honor someone honor one of its most famous alums, but someone who...

Thoughts on Week 1

Everyone...and I mean everyone...had reservations about starting Adrian Peterson this week. I saw so many folks recommending Toby Gerhart over AP. Peterson showed why he's who he is. Nobody comes back from that kind of injury this fast and he rushes for 84 yards and two scores. All Day! Either the Washington defensive line is amazing or the offensive line of the Saints needs...
