PLAYERS: Ben Watson
TEAMS: New Orleans Saints
Ben Watson The New Orleans Saints offense has been in the top 5 every season since Sean Payton took over, breaking records and shredding defenses alike.  Given this fact, one would not think anything needs to change (if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it); however, expect there to be a change in the look and style of the offense, most notably the use of the two tight end set. The Saints have been trying to slowly implement this, but just haven’t had the personnel. It started off with Jeremy Shockey and David Thomas, but both were injury prone. Then the team drafted Jimmy Graham to go with Shockey, but Shockey couldn’t stay on the field. The same goes for Graham and Thomas. Now, it seems like their problems are solved with the signing of Ben Watson from the Cleveland Browns. Ben Watson, at 32 years old, still brings a lot of skill, athleticism, and experience to go along with the best tight end in the game in Graham. Watson’s numbers don’t jump off the page, but in years where he has made ...

Saints Jimmy Graham clearly the top NFL TE with Gronkowski and Hernandez issues

New Orleans Saints tight end Jimmy Graham was selected after Rob Gronkowski (round 2) and before Aaron Hernandez (round four), but right now he’s on top of the NFL TE’s list. The summer of discontent in New England stretches to the fallen duo and their status as the two best TE’s in the league. Graham was selected between the two tight ends in the third round; however,...

How the Saints Literally Dodged a Bullet

“With the 95th pick in the 2010 NFL draft, the New Orleans Saints select…Aaron Hernandez.” It almost happened that way and thank Goodness it didn’t. Three years ago, the Saints were on the hunt for a tight end with their third round pick. Rob Gronkowski had just been snagged by the Patriots in Round 2. Jimmy Graham of the University of Miami and Aaron Hernandez of the...

Drew Brees Hangs With Mickey Mouse At His Football Camp

He’s my new #1 WR Juan… Drew Brees is my #1 ranked QB this season, because year in and year out as the Saints’ QB, he finishes either #1 or right at the top.  With Sean Payton and Mickey Mouse in his corner, he should be right there again in 2013. Drew Brees and His Wife Keep Playing Dress Up For Their Movie Nights Marques Colston Turns 30 Years Old

Saints Nation: Training Camp Position Battle Preview - Running Backs

Even with Chris Ivory traded away, I view the running back position as one of the most stable positions on the entire roster. In fact, that's exactly why Ivory was traded, an overload of talent at the position. There's a lot of variety at that position with a 1st round draft pick, a couple undrafted players that make an impact, and a free agent that demanded a medium priced...

Saints Nation Podcast: How the 2013 Patriots Might Be Like the 2012 Saints

Andrew Juge and Kevin Held join Ralph to do a podcast with hardly any actual Saints news. It's July and that's a good thing. The boys wonder if the 2013 Patriots = 2012 Saints. Meaning experts and fans will think huge missing pieces won't matter. Plus random thoughts on the NFL. In actual Saints talk Ralph has talked himself into the awesomeness of the Ben Watson...

Saints Nation: Training Camp Position Battle Preview - Wide Receivers

Today we look at a position group that's been fairly depleted over the last few years in terms of talent. Robert Meachem bolted for San Diego, Devery Henderson got too old, and Adrian Arrington never really panned out. What's left behind a couple reliable but aging starters is a slew of youngsters with some ability but lots of unknowns. I view the receiving corp as a pretty...
