Steve Tisch says he feels "anxious" over the Victor Cruz contract situation, while John Mara says he expects another team to try to sign the young wide receiver. And despite both owners claiming they'll do what they can to reach a long-term deal with the New Jersey native, neither appears overly confident that a conclusion is near. That line of thinking does not apply to New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin however, who told NFL Network's Kim Jones that he feels "very optimistic" a deal will get done.
This isn't the first time Coughlin has expressed optimism when asked about Cruz, and he remains the only person involved who hasn't wavered from the start. From day one Coughlin felt the situation would work itself out, and although we're no closer to a deal than we were six months ago, the coach believes Cruz will, rightfully, remain in blue.
Coughlin also noted that he "couldn't picture" Cruz is another uniform, which is something commonly expressed amongst his teammates and fans. But, as we all know, the NFL is a business and optimism doesn't put money in the athlete's pocket nor does it land a signature on a contract.
This situation will continue to be a rollercoaster for quite some time. There will be highs and lows, dips and valleys, and in the end we'll all just be happy it's over.

New York Giants co-owner Steve Tisch has voiced his concern over the possibility of teams trying to sign Victor Cruz to an offer sheet. Jason Pierre-Paul has the potential to be a dominating defensive prescence on the football field, much like Aldon Smith and JJ Watt, but all the potential in the world is worthless if it isn’t taken well care of and the effot isn’t put into place. When the New York Giants won the Super Bowl in 2012, JPP was that dominant force, as his raw skill was on display for much of the...

Tom Coughlin is still head coach in the NFL at the age of 66, not just because he has won two Super Bowls in the last six years, but because he’s always willing to stay ahead of the curve. Just because he approaches discipline and preparation like a drill sargent, don’t confuse it for being close-minded. In fact, he spent much of the early offseason by contacting college defensive...
