New York Jets
Today is cut day in the NFL, which means a lot of football players will be looking for work by the time we get to 9 p.m. tonight. The Jets have started early, already making a bunch of cuts this morning. The Jets cut Martin Tevaseu, Ricky Sapp, Matt Simms, Marcus Dowtin, Eron Riley, Donnie Fletcher, D’Anton Lynn, Fred Koloto, Julian Posey, LeQuan Lewis, Joseph Collins, Tarren Lloyd, Damon Harrison, Paul Cornick, Jay Richardson, Spencer Lanning and Matt Kroul. Robert Griffin has also been cut, per Brian Costello of the New York Post.
The cuts will keep coming, making today a harrowing day for anyone on the fringe of the roster. Having made it this far is an accomplishment in itself, but being so close has to make it more painful to have a meeting with Mike Tannenbaum today. The New York Jets have gotten started early, with a few more cuts to go.

New York Jets owner Woody Johnson put his opinion of the Jets backup quarterback quite succinctly when he stated, "I think you can never have too much Tebow."
The New York Jets head into their pre-season finale tonight against the Philadelphia Eagles with plenty of questions surrounding their roster. On the field tonight will be a minimal amount of impact players for the 2012 team, however there are a handful who still have an opportunity to lock down prominent roles. After the game Mike Tannenbaum needs to get to work in adding depth...
QUEEN LATIFAH APPROVES
On Wednesday, 19 veteran New York Jets players went through eight hours of training with ex-military members and covered themes such as how to build camaraderie.
One of the more despicable stories of the week developed in Pennsylvania on Monday when a 17-year-old was attacked while mowing a lawn.
The attacker stopped his car, got out, ran up to Josh Ehrenberg, and then clotheslined him off a lawnmower. At that point, the bizarre story became truly absurd, according to Ehrenberg:
“He clotheslined me off the tractor, and [it] landed...
For our final Preseason edition of New York Jets Fact Or False, we take a look back at the play of Gang Green throughout the summer, as well as making some predictions for the final 53 man roster and the regular season. There certainly is much to be discussed after a four game span that’s only offensive touchdown was led by third string quarterback Greg McElroy. Let’s jump right...
A Jets fan’s request to fly in JetBlue’s New York Jets airplane was fulfilled when the airline responded to a customer’s tweet.
David Baghdassarian is a huge Jets fan who has a Jets license plate for his car and green and white tailgating grill, according to ESPN. He even dressed up as coach Rex Ryan on the holidays.
A week before Baghdassarian was scheduled to fly from...
New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan thinks this year’s team is the best team he has coached. Even better than the teams that went to two straight AFC Championship games (Credit: AP Photo)
Rex Ryan previously promised he would stop making Super Bowl predictions for his team, but apparently that promise will not stop him from talking up his team. Ryan, apparently, thinks this year’s...
This morning we gave you updates from Jets beat writers but some of the information was contradictory with other beat writers, SO the first official announcement comes from the official NY Jets twitter account. Manish had the count down to 58, but it’s at 61.
Overall in the NFL, approximately 704 players will be released today and about 256 will be added back to practice squads...
Former Baylor player Robert Griffin has been cut. No, not that one.
The Jets released 15 players Friday, including tackle Robert T. Griffin, who blocked for Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III at Baylor and was New York's sixth-round draft pick. He is not related to the Redskins quarterback chosen No. 2 overall in the draft.
Quarterback Matt Simms, the son of Phil Simms...
There’s customer service, and there’s Customer Service, and then there’s the “above and beyond” sort of thing that JetBlue did recently for one David Baghdassarian, a diehard Jets fan who was making a trip from Florida back to New York where he was born and raised. To get an idea of just how big a Jets fan Baghdassarian is, his Florida license plate reads JTSFN, and he...
USC did on Saturday what its become most known for in the sports world recently: win big in football, and have some players accused of violating NCAA rules.
The LA Times published a report on Saturday alleging that Scott Schenter, a corrupt figure in the LA city assessor’s office, provided ex-Trojan athletes Joe McKnight and Davon Jefferson with improper benefits. McKnight, a former...

Rex Ryan has grown irritated with his locker room constantly being in disarray, so yesterday Rex came up with a family type bonding situation.
In a report from USA Today, Rex sent Mark Sanchez, Darrelle Revis, Tim Tebow, Santonio Holmes, and 15 other Jets players to a “leadership training” seminar in Bedminster, N.J.
The players had the joy of being excused from...
It’s obvious the New York Jets have had a pretty hard time since they entered training camp. The QB controversy, Darrelle Revis’ potential contract holdout, brawls in training camp, and the secret wildcat play are just a handful of things we can’t stop debating. Talk about the Jets has not gotten any better since the preseason started.
