The New York Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers are locked into a tight battle at Metlife stadium. As expected, the Jets defensive line is getting to Big Ben early and often, but the Steelers short passing game has kept their offense alive. Let’s break down the first half.   Two Big Whiffs: The Steelers were backed up in their own territory early in the first quarter. Big Ben dropped back into his own end zone and perfectly evaded Mo Wilkerson for what should have been a safety. In the second quarter, Geno Smith had Stephen Hill wide open on a deep route. It looked like Hill slowed up for a split second, leading to Geno’s bomb sailing over his head. Nine points the Jets should have easily had, they let slip away. Quick Release: The Steelers know their offensive line is completely outmatched by the Jets front seven. Todd Haley has come into this game with a quick pass oriented game plan that has been successful. The Steelers threw a bunch of screens, with one to Antonio Brown gaining double digit yardage for a first down on third and long. The Jets corners have to play tight to slow this style of offense down in the second half. Kicker Battle: This game could come down to another Nick Folk field goal. The kickers are a combined 5 for 5 so far, as neither team has found the end zone. Talk about a real “grinder” type game.
