In a move that has been expected for several weeks now, the Philadelphia Eagles announced this morning that the team has fired head coach Andy Reid. Eagles ownership issued what was regarded as an ultimatum at the start of the regular season stating that another disappointing season would not be tolerated in Philadelphia.The Eagles were a complete disappointment in 2011 and posted a 4-12 record in 2012.

“Andy Reid won the most games of any head coach in Eagles history and he is someone I respect greatly and will remain friends with for many years to come,” said Lurie. “But, it is time for the Eagles to move in a new direction. Coach Reid leaves us with a winning tradition that we can build upon. And we are very excited about the future.”
Reid was the longest tenured head coach in the NFL, spending 14 seasons with the Eagles. Philadelphia is the only job Reid has held as a head coach. He accounted for six division titles, nine playoff appearances...
