San Diego Chargers RB Ryan Mathews has perplexed and frustrated fantasy football owners over the last few seasons. He entered the league two seasons ago with high expectations and has failed to deliver on the level of predictions surrounding him. I bought into the hype his rookie season and made a reach in order to grab him as he was advertised as the second coming of LaDainian Tomlinson. Now, Jackie Battle is complicating matters for Mathews in San Diego. Battle scored two touchdowns last Sunday for the Chargers and actually had more carries in the game than Mathews. Now, according to the Chargers team website depth chart, Mathews has relegated his starting position to Battle. It’s possible that Mathews is simply not in game shape after suffering a broken collarbone in the preseason. It’s also possible that the coaching staff is trying to send a message to Mathews. Heading into this year’s fantasy drafts, I stayed away from Mathews, despite the talk from head coach Norv Turner head...

Ryan Mathews Demoted as Jackie Battle Listed as Starter…

The Chargers may just be doing this to motivate Ryan Mathews. He hasn't been spectacular but he did miss valuable time with a broken collar bone and he's clearly a better RB than Jackie Battle. This boggles the mind a little bit. We aren't in the locker room and there may be more to this but one has to expect that Mathews will emerge as the clear starter at some point...

Ryan Mathews demoted on Chargers depth chart

The San Diego Chargers have moved Jackie Battle ahead of Ryan Mathews on the teams depth chart. The reason according to the Chargers is because Battle started last week. Battle, 29, ran for 39 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries against Kansas City. He also caught 4 passes for 42 yards and a touchdown. Mathews has seen his playing time take a hit due to his penchant of fumbling....

Fantasy football: Week 5 pick ups for the deeper leagues

Looking for a player on the waiver wire to help you win your fantasy football league or even help you get through bye weeks, is a tough task. Not all can maneuver and get the guys they need when they need them. The good news is; these will be the people you can beat while they have major players on a bye. The bad news is; these are the same people who pick up any player they think...

Jackie Battle listed as the Chargers’ starting running back

With San Diego Chargers running back Ryan Mathews struggling to hold onto the football, Jackie Battle is now listed as the starting running back down in Southern California. I’m sure the Chargers will give Mathews a chance to earn his starting spot back, but right now Battle is getting the job done.

Jackie Battle Surprised With Carries

Chargers Jackie Battle admits even he was shocked to receive the bulk of the teams carries in Week 4 against the Chiefs. "I had no idea I was going to get that much work," Battle said. "They kept sending me back out and calling my number, so I figured I was doing something right."

Top 10 players that have killed your fantasy team

1) Rob Gronkowski: Gronk! How could he have killed your team? Well he was being touted as a first round pick coming into the season after setting the league on fire last year, but despite having a solid start to the season, he has not been elite in the first quarter of the season. Tight end is a difficult position to scout – and if you spent a first rounder on Gronk you are...

Bolden, Battle top wish list

Week 4 began the bye weeks with both Indianapolis and Pittsburgh taking Sunday off. This week the number of teams on bye will expand to four, which will have fantasy owners searching for viable replacements off of waivers. As you'll read, there are many options to look at this week. QUARTERBACK Brandon Weeden, CLE - After Week 1 it was hard to imagine recommending Weeden at...

Andy Dalton, Cincinnati Bengals vs. Miami Dolphins: This should be an interesting game. Is Miami better than we thought or can Cincy handle their business? Well either way you should use Andy Dalton here.

Positional ranks are based on numerous factors, including opposing defense, historical data, player health, gut feelings, and other classified variables.     Play of the Week- Arian Foster should have no trouble rushing against a Jets team that gave up 134 yards and 34 points...

Fantasy football waiver wire week 5 pickups

This may be one of the worst fantasy football seasons in recent memory when it comes to the waiver wire. I can’t think of another season in recent years with as little to choose from on the wire.
