On Monday night, the New Orleans Saints defeated the Atlanta Falcons in a game which saw QB Drew Brees set the single season passing yardage record. Now, the NFL has handed down a fine for New Orleans Saints RB Pierre Thomas for his touchdown celebration.
After scoring the first touchdown of the game, RB Pierre Thomas ran out of the endzone, pulled a bow out of his pants, placed it on the ball and handed it to a fan in the stands. Since Thomas used the ball as a prop, the officials threw a flag and handed the Saints a 15-yard penalty on the ensuing kickoff. End of story, right? Wrong.
On Thursday, the NFL league office handed a $7500.00 fine to the Saints running back for his stunt. Is this the most ludicrous of all penalties? The league added another $5,000.00 dollar fine to Thomas for wearing “holiday” colored tape on his wrists, one taped red and the other wrist taped green.
