Every NFL Franchise has it’s own pantheon of football gods. That group of players who are not only historic in terms of talent, but even more than that, these are the players who you have to talk about when you tell the story of your team. This is part of a 32 article series where I tell you who I would put among that elite group. For this, it’s Mt. Rushmore. 4 players only. The 4 heads you would carve on a mountain that would live forever as the greatest in franchise history.

Now, I don’t profess to know the history of every franchise in the league. So, I did my research. And part of that was reaching out to you fans. But if you don’t agree with the 4 guys I have selected, come find me on Twitter at www.twitter.com/nfldraftboard and let me hear what you think.

As a Pittsburgh Steelers fan, I know the Baltimore Ravens all too well. Known for their dominant defense they are certainly a franchise that is to be feared and is in contention year after year. Although they aren’t an old franchise they have had some of the greatest players in he league at their respective positions.

Baltimore Ravens

1. Ed Reed, S-Reed may go down in history as the best all around safety in the game. As a Steeler fan he’s been a thorn in my side for years, but I give him respect for the fact that there has never been a safety in the league with a greater tendency for the big play like Reed.

2. Ray Lewis, LB-This may sound like echo but Lewis may end up going down in history as the greatest inside linebacker in NFL history, so including him on this list is obvious. The most intimidating, intense and physical player I’ve ever watched at any position.

3. Jonathan Ogden, OT-One last time. Ogden is another Raven player who’s in the discussion for greatest at their position in the NFL. You can’t diminish the value of an anchor at left tackle and while Ogden may not have racked up stats, he’s a fan favorite and an easy inclusion.

4. Jamal Lewis, RB-To be considered for this, I’d like to think that for several seasons you are considered the best Raven in your team’s history, which Lewis is easy, but in 2003 Lewis had one of the single most impressive seasons in NFL history rushing for 2,066 yards.
