Found December 27, 2012 on Waiting For Next Year:

Pat Shurmur had his chat with reporters today and discussed the decision to bring in quarterback Josh Johnson. It was top of my mind yesterday as I wondered if the Browns had talked to Seneca Wallace. He played for the Browns last year and was cut at the end of training camp this year, so it seemed like at least a logical option in the thought progression. As it turns out, the Browns at least considered it before bringing in veteran Josh Johnson. #Browns HC Pat Shurmur said acquisition of backup QB Josh Johnson was result of discussion between CEO Joe Banner and GM Tom Heckert. — Nate Ulrich (@NateUlrichABJ) December 27, 2012 Shurmur also revealed to the pool that if Trent Richardson is unable to go that Montario Hardesty would get the start and Brandon Jackson and Chris Ogbonnaya would also be active. Maybe that’s a competitive advantage for the Browns. We at least know that Brandon Jackson is fresh, right? (Yes, I’m kidding.) Finally, Shurmur wouldn’t reveal exactly who is making roster decisions at this point. He claimed that everyone was talking and working together to make decisions. Imagine that? Thaddeus Lewis taking first-team reps for Browns

Taddeus Lewis could go from playing with the practice squad to starting in an NFL game in just a week’s time. With shoulder injuries being sustained by both Brandon Weeden and Colt McCoy, it was the recently added Lewis who is taking first-team snaps during practice heading into the Browns’ Week 17 tilt against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Cleveland Browns Offensive Woes Not From Lack Of Talent

The Browns will finish off the 2012 season against the Steelers this Sunday in Pittsburgh.  After the game ends, we will not have to wait long to see Pat Shurmur fired.  Tom Heckert should follow him out the door shortly after.  And with that, the Haslam and Banner era of Cleveland Browns football will begin.Rumors are already running wild about how the Browns will hire as their...

Change almost a certainty for Browns

The season is about to end for the Browns, and usually that means change is next. Two weeks ago, Cleveland still had a chance to make the playoffs. But two straight lopsided losses and a slew of injuries have placed the Browns in a familiar predicament as they prepare for Sunday's season finale at Pittsburgh. Coach Pat Shurmur is likely to be replaced next week, and new owner...

Browns vs. Steelers Reader’s Survey

It’s going to be the toughest game to predict all year in all likelihood. The Browns and Steelers don’t have anything to play for but pride and paychecks. The teams are a mystery right now at least on the Browns’ side of the equation as Brandon Weeden, Trent Richardson and even Colt McCoy are questionable at best and out in all probability. It could be the last game as a member...

NFL News: Weeden, Richardson and Brown listed as “out” for Sunday

Cleveland Browns cornerback Sheldon Brown’s streak of consecutive games played will end at 175 and he will miss the team’s Week 17 barn-burner against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Brown suffered a concussion midway through the Browns’ Week 16 loss to the Denver Broncos when wide receiver Brandon Stokley lowered a shoulder into him on a pick play to free up Demaryius Thomas on...

“Zero” percent chance Trent Richardson plays this week

According to Tony Grossi of ESPNCleveland.com, there’s a “zero” percent chance that running back Trent Richardson will in Sunday’s season finale against the Steelers. Richardson has had a monster rookie season that he’ll be able to build off of heading into next season. BEREA, Ohio (AP) -- Injured Browns quarterbacks Brandon Weeden and Colt McCoy are not practicing, making it almost certain that third-stringer Thad Lewis will start the season finale at Pittsburgh. Report: Lewis to start at QB for Browns

All indications are that Thad Lewis will make his first NFL start on Sunday for the Cleveland Browns and running back Trent Richardson likely will miss the game against Pittsburgh. Richardson also was sidelined with a sprained left ankle...

Browns fans are very familiar with ugly season-ending games

So who is the backup for the backup? As Scott told us today, Thad Lewis, recently called up from the practice squad, got the first team reps today in Berea. That’s right. Not Brandon Weeden with a bum shoulder. Not Colt McCoy, also with a bum shoulder. Thaddeus Lewis. Just a reminder, Lewis is a 25-year-old from Duke with a much-heralded arm and some decent athletic ability. He’s...

Rookie QB Thad Lewis could start for Cleveland Browns vs Steelers

On Wednesday, the Cleveland Browns signed QB Josh Johnson to their roster but rookie QB Thad Lewis could get the start this week when the Cleveland Browns play their season finale against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The moves by the Browns were made necessary with Brandon Weeden and Colt McCoy both nursing shoulder injuries sustained last Sunday against the Denver Broncos. Neither quarterback...
