Found April 11, 2013 on Waiting For Next Year:
In a move that is being painted as “Chip Kelly remaking his roster,” the Cleveland Browns have acquired running back Dion Lewis from the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for linebacker Emmanuel Acho. A fifth-round pick of the Eagles in 2011, Lewis lost backup duties in Philly to Bryce Brown during training camp last season. At just 22 years of age, Lewis has averaged 4.75 yards per carry on 36 career carries. The 5-foot-8-inch, 190-pound back will push Montario Hardesty for the change-of-pace role behind workhorse Trent Richardson in Cleveland. Earlier this month, it was reported that Lewis was “too small” for Chip Kelly’s offense with the Eagles. In 2012, Acho went down in Cleveland’s second preseason game with an undisclosed injury and never returned. A sixth-round pick out of Texas, he was going to be a reserve on defense and play special teams. Given the additions at linebacker this past off-season, coupled with his penchant for getting swallowed up by linemen in college, the 22-year old was not guaranteed a roster spot. This transaction was first reported by’s Ryan Alton. [Related: As the highest-paid player on the Browns, is Joe Thomas’ value diminishing?]

The Eagles had a terrible season and moved on to a new coach. What holes do they have left?

The Eagles thought they built a dream team in Philadelphia.  What they built was the team that cost Andy Reid his job.  New coach Chip Kelly is putting his system in place and needs players that can execute his game plan.  They will have a lot of options at #4? At this point most teams have made their big moves in free agency.  The players remaining are either veterans at...

Eagles Trade Dion Lewis for Browns' Linebacker

In a move that probably won't be a huge factor in 2013, the Philadelphia Eagles traded running back Dion Lewis to the Cleveland Browns for linebacker Emmanuel Acho. Lewis had 13 carries for 69 yeards (5.3 YPC) and one touchdown last season for the Eagles. Acho spent the entire 2012 season, his rookie season, on injured reserve after he suffered an undisclosed leg injury in the...

Dion Lewis For A Random Cleveland Brown Is A Good Thing

Acho Acho Today, the Philadelphia Eagles got something out of nothing, but that's going to be news to those in the fan base that watches preseason football and wonders why it doesn't go the same as real games. Dion Lewis was going to be no better than the third-string RB for the team this year, in his third year out of Pittsburgh as LeSean McCoy Very Lite. (McCoy also is...

Eagles cuts come early...and a few thoughts on releases...

Chip Kelly wasted little time in clearing out Andy Reid's project hold-overs... First he got rid of Dion Lewis by trading him to Cleveland for injury-ridden but future-hopeful LB Emmanuel Acho... Then he released linebackers Ryan Rau, Marcus Downtin, wide receiver Ron Johnson and cornerback Chris Hawkins on Thursday. All four were considered long shots to make the team...

Cleveland Browns: 5 Most Memorable Draft Picks In Team History

The Cleveland Browns’ draft history is checkered at best if you’re a glass half-full Browns fans, and down-right putrid if your Browns' fan glass is half-empty.The Browns drafted Willie Davis with the 181st pick in the 15th round of the 1956 Draft. Paul Brown tried him out at offensive tackle, and cut him. Vince Lombardi signed Davis changed his position to defensive end...

Cleveland Browns Need to Stop Barking and Start Biting

In a 2012 Sporting News Midseason Player’s Poll, the Cleveland Browns organization was voted as the worst organization in the NFL. Not good. Believe-land used to be a place in northeastern Ohio that gave orange and brown clad fans real hope in a playoff contender just a few short years ago. Sadly, the hope was false and as the 2013-14 season draws near, the Cleveland Browns...
