The NFL said there is no timetable set for when suspended New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton can return to the team, the New Times-Picayune reported Saturday. League spokesman Greg Aiello said that a recent ESPN report that Payton will not be able to apply for reinstatement until Feb. 4 was not accurate. Payton was suspended for the 2012 season because of the team's "bounty" scandal. Payton would not comment but interim coach Joe Vitt said earlier in the week that he expects Payton to return to the team's facility on Feb. 4. "That's what I've been led to expect, yeah," Vitt said. "I think midnight of the Super Bowl. He'll be back here at 12:01, I'd assume." The Saints and Payton recently agreed to a five-year contract that pays him a league-high $8 million per season.

Sean Payton's contract extension has been a huge relief and added some future stability to a team that had anything but that during this 7-9 season. But just how stable are the Saints as we enter this offseason? The fact that Payton is coming back is big not only huge because this season proved how desperately the Saints need him but also because the team may be going through...

This means he’ll have to wait until after the Super Bowl.Highly unlikely suspended Saints coach Sean Payton will get early meeting with commissioner Roger Goodell for reinstatement, via sources.— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) January...
With the season officially over, I've included below all the player GPAs for the season. I will be announcing my player awards for the season this week as well, but before I do that you'll get a good sense of who will win what based on these final grades. Perhaps my grading was a little harsher than last year, but you'll see the difference between a 13-3 team and a 7...
I'm a little late to the party on this but I wanted to at least acknowledge the recent roster activity. The Saints have signed the following players to "futures contracts" that will allow these guys to compete in camp next season:
WR Preston Parker
DE Jay Richardson
DE Braylon Broughton
WR Jarred Fayson
G Ryan Lee
DB Ryan Steed
"Whatever gets the competitive juices flowing" says Drew Brees in the snippet that aired on NFL Network today promoting this week's airing of the previously produced special: America's Game: 2009 Saints. The choice to replay the piece this coming Monday seems a bit off, particularly as it airs on the NFL's flag ship station. As we know, Roger Goodell and many...
Sunderland mounted a stirring fight-back from 2-0 down to avoid embarrassment in their FA Cup clash with Bolton, securing a 2-2 draw at the Reebok Stadium.
The Championship side looked to be in control of the third round clash as dismal defending allowed Lee Chung-yong to open the scoring in the 12th minute before Marvin Sordell took advantage of more shoddy play at the back to...
