Question: How does Aaron Brooks, Daunte Culpepper and Byron Leftwich all go without an NFL QB job when the league has a Brady Croyle (Kansas City), Aaron Rodgers (Green Bay), or an Alex Smith in San Francisco with QB jobs. None of these guys, probably Smith has, has fared well in the NFL. Especially Brady Croyle! Let's face facts, Aaron's Leadership qualities (lack of) and outspokenness were his downfalls. Daunte Culpepper's injury and Sex Boat scandal his. And, Letwich is too injury prone.
However, if you can recycle Brunell and Testerverde, why not give these "once productive" NFL QB's a chance? At least as a backup! Each of these QB's have thrown over 20 Touchdowns in multiple seasons. Culpepper is arguably the best of this group.
What's really behind the "blackballing"? Is it because they are "Black" and the NFL GM's can't figure them into the programs? Or, can't they figure out how they can "Ball"?
Here's excerpts from the NOLA.com's article:
Aaron Brooks keeps a low profile these days. He spends his mornings working out, fine-tuning his physique, perfecting his three- and five-step drops, sharpening his rifle-like right arm. He's aware it might be all for naught.
"Blackballed might be too strong a word, " said ESPN analyst Shaun King, a former Tulane and NFL quarterback. "But if you really are objective, the facts point to it must be something. It's outside of normal when you look at the way that some of the quarterbacks are recycled. If you look at the rosters right now — and I don't want to call specific guys' names, but if you look at the rosters in the National Football League and then you ask yourself based on accomplishment alone — how is an Aaron Brooks or a Daunte Culpepper or a Byron Leftwich or a Shaun King, for that matter, not somewhere?"
