Found October 31, 2012 on Waiting For Next Year:
From the Browns- “The Cleveland Browns today signed defensive lineman Hall Davis to the practice squad. Originally drafted by the St. Louis Rams in the fifth round (149th overall) of the 2010 draft, Davis has appeared in one regular season contest. He spent 10 weeks on the Titans’ practice squad in 2010, before being signed to the active roster where he appeared in one game. He spent training camp with Raiders this season before being waived on final roster cuts on August 31. A two-year starter at Louisiana-Lafayette, he totaled three sacks and one interception in 12 games as a senior. Born March 2, 1987, the 6-4, 270-pound Davis is a native of Baton Rouge, La., where he attended University High School.” DT Ahtyba Rubin did not practice again today for the Browns. Emmanuel Stephens was placed on the IR yesterday. DT Phil Taylor expects to be active this week against the Ravens, taking Stephens’ spot on the roster. Josh Cribbs wants to be bigger part of Browns’ offense

This morning Josh Cribbs called in to 92.3 The Fan and answered questions about the team and his role on the offense in particular- “I would definitely love to be able to be on the football field. I’m a firm believer in finding ways to get your athletes the football. You have tons of athletes, find what their strengths are, get them the football. Get plays for them. Other coaches...

Pat Shurmur on young players gaining confidence

Browns head coach Pat Shurmur spoke to the media today and answered a question regarding his team’s confidence level- “I think you build confidence when you win football games. The last few weeks we won a couple. When you’re trying to build something, you can look at the season in quarters and halves and we’ve got a half a season left to play. We’ve got some division games...

The Browns won a game last week, don't get use to it. Week 9 preview.

Browns fans are trying to convince me that I was wrong to say they were going to win 0-2 games.  The fact is, this is not a good team.  Maybe they win 5 games, it doesn't matter.  They don't have enough talent on this roster to make a playoff run anytime in the future.   Denver at Cincinnati - The Boncos and Peyton Manning have things rolling now on both sides...

Joe Haden: Browns have closed gap within AFC North

We definitely feel like [we've closed the gap within the AFC North]. We feel like we were in the division [games], but we were just a couple plays off. Now that we’ve beat Cincinnati and we’re coming off of this last week’s win, we just feel like there’s no reason why we can’t keep these wins coming. They’re a beatable team, they’re really talented though not to...

Browns QB Brandon Weeden in good company

BEREA Even though Brandon Weeden does not have eye-popping statistics, he is on pace to be in elite company if he performs similarly in the second half of the season. With half the season to play, Weeden already has two 300-yard passing performances and a near miss in a third. Only Peyton Manning (four in 1998), Cam Newton (three in 2011) and Andrew Luck (three in 2012) are the...

T.J. Ward on Jimmy Haslam’s Accomplishments

Jimmy Haslam joined the locker room celebration of his 2-6 team’s 7-6 win over the Chargers on Sunday and safety T.J. Ward came away much too impressed by the new Browns owner. The Plain Dealer’s Tom Reed reports that, “Ward is amazed the owner seems to know each player on a first-name basis,” and Ward also commented on Haslam’s reaction after Pat Shurmur tossed him a game...

Browns' Weeden learning on the fly

BEREA, Ohio (AP) -- Brandon Weeden had his trigger finger ready. While relaxing at home Tuesday night, Cleveland's rookie quarterback was reviewing the Sept. 27 game against Baltimore on his iPad when he came to that fateful moment in the third quarter. With the Browns trailing just 16-10 and driving for a potential go-ahead touchdown, Weeden hung a third-down pass toward the...
