No one knew that it would be an offensive formation named “wildcat” that would keep the Miami Dolphins competitive in the AFC East. It wasn’t just the 2008 season it altered. It changed the entire league as Ronnie Brown unleashed the formation against the division rival New England Patriots. Head coach Tony Sparano wanted a way to get both running backs Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams on the field at the same time. Along with David Lee, the former University of Arkansas offensive coordinator, who orchestrated The Wild Hog featuring direct snaps to tailbacks Darren McFadden and Felix Jones. The Dolphins shocked New England as Brown ran for three touchdowns and threw for another in a 38-13 win. Brown finished the game with 113 rushing yards and four touchdowns on the ground and a fifth coming on his one pass attempt. The Dolphins 1-15 disaster of 2007 was quickly erased as the Dolphins completed the greatest single-season turnaround in NFL history finishing 11-5 and winning the AFC East.
