Detroit Lions RB Jahvid Best has not been on the football field since nearly the mid-season mark of last season, and he will not play this season, after being ruled out by the Lions yesterday. Best has yet to find a doctor which will clear him to return to the playing field after suffering a concussion last season.However, Best claims he still wants to continue his career.
Beat writer Dave Birkett confirms the news via Twitter. “He obviously still wants to play, we’re just in a climate now in the NFL where everybody’s extra cautious.”
Best’s struggle to return to the field has now lasted over a year. The Lions have to be concerned now that Best’s career might be over, before it really got going. Best has a history of concussions and given the concern surrounding the injury in the NFL currently, it is a very serious reality that his career has been cut short.
