WASHINGTON (38) d DALLAS (31) The Headline: News Headline on the game The Story: In a near perfect first half Robert Griffin III torched the Cowboys defense and set his Redskins up for an upset win on Thanksgiving. Four second quarter touchdowns meant that the rout was on as the Cowboys had no answer for the dynamic rookie. Of course their offense did not help matters by making several stupid mistakes such as the obvious turnovers as well as dropping passes that killed drives. At 28-3 it was very tempting to put Madden or FIFA in the Playstation and come back for the late game but luckily I stuck with it. Dallas did their usual thing of giving their fans some faint hope by staging an impressive comeback. In the end it was too little too late as the Redskins did just enough to get themselves over the line. Key Stat: Washington: 28 second quarter points Something that you could never say about the Redskins in the last few years was that their offense was explosive. With RGIII and his revamped receiving corps, the Redskins blew the Cowboys out of the water with four touchdowns in the quarter as Dallas put themselves in a hole that they could not get out of. Key Play: Kai Forbath 48 yard field goal With the Cowboys bringing the deficit back to one score as time was ticking away in the final period, the Redskins needed to either run the clock right down and not give the ball back, or they needed to score one more time to make things safe. Griffin lead a calm, collected drive that got them into field goal range to make the deficit a comfortable 10 points which was too much for Dallas to overcome. Man of the Match: Robert Griffin III 20/28 311yards, 4 touchdowns; 6 carries, 29 yards This was the first time I got to see Griffin live and in full this season. He was everything he was advertised to be, a unique, dynamic threat that is tough for defenses to worry about. Perhaps the biggest benefactor of Griffin’s skill set is running back Alfred Morris who picked up plenty of yards just by the defense having to worry about the threat of Griffin running the ball himself. His late interception was the only blemish on an otherwise perfect day. Either way, it was a great way for RGIII to introduce himself to the NFL with this win over Tony Romo, who had never lost on Thanksgiving before this one.
