Obsessed With Sports:
Every season RDM obsesses on the NFL team win total over/unders. It’s one of the more fun bets in all of sports. A single well-placed bet turns an otherwise random team into a must see weekly event. Today we look at the 2012 San Diego Chargers.
The number: 9
Last year, the Chargers defense regressed quite a bit. The defense ended up ranked 22nd in points allowed. It seems like San Diego will need an arena-ball-like offense to compete in 2012. The thing is — that’s entirely possible in today’s NFL.
The wide receiving core is likely to be enough for Phillip Rivers. However, the running back situation is already dicey. Ryan Mathews is hurt. Shocking. That means it could be Ronnie Brown getting the bulk of the carries. Who know what that means, in regards to productivity.
If we expect the defense to remain middle of the pack at best, then the Chargers could struggle a bit. The defense is a bit of a wild card. However, it’s the AFC West that is the true crap shoot.
But the division was a joke last year. The Chargers still managed to lose 6 games in a row from late October through November. If you are soft, you are soft. And that’s San Diego.
The pick: under 9 wins

The great thing about the NFL is that there are so many positions that every year, there is almost always at least one player who has a breakout year on every team, no matter how good or bad the team is. Chargers wide receiver Vincent Brown was carted off the field with a left ankle injury in the team's preseason game Saturday.Fantasy Spin:According to Tom Krasovic of the San Diego Union-Tribune, Brown has been the most impressive Chargers receiver in this month's practices and games, but the injury had the look of a fracture.
Heading into this season, many pundits had pegged San Diego Chargers RB Ryan Mathews as a first-round draft choice. As a disclaimer, I’ve already been burned with Mathews in the past, so I have a bitter taste in my mouth over that selection. I was however, ready to give him the benefit of the doubt and give him some serious consideration this season. That was before he broke his...
According to ProFootballTalk.com, San Diego Chargers running back Ryan Mathews told XTRA Sports 1560 that he has “no doubt” that he’ll be ready for their season opener against the Oakland Raiders on Monday Night Football.
Earlier today we mentioned that there’s some belief that Mathews won’t be back until October, because of how long it takes for a clavicle to...
Players make bold statements about their availability all the time, but if you spent a first round pick on Ryan Matthews, you’re looking for any positive news to come out of the Chargers camp. The Chargers explosive runner failed to graduate from Fresno State with a doctorate, but did declare that there was “no doubt” that he would play against the Raiders in the finale of...
