While the 49ers have indicated that the jury is still out on whether or not cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha can still play at a high level,  he’s more confident now then he was with the Eagles. According to the Sacramento Bee,  Asomugha admitted that the past two years in Philly shook his confidence. He acknowledged that the two seasons in Philadelphia shook his confidence. “I feel great,” Asomugha said. “It’s looking, you know, good. And it’s encouraging. Not (because of) the age that I am but what I’ve been through. There are moments there along the way where I need to see some of that progress just for self encouragement. I’ve seen it.” Asomugha feels like he has plenty of football in him. “I’ve been out there making plays and doing a lot of the things that I know I can do,” he said. “So my confidence is in a good place.” Need NFL Tickets? 2012 first-rounder may get cut?

A.J. Jenkins was the Niners' first-round selection just 18 months ago, and even though the team is desperate for receivers at the moment, his roster spot is reportedly still in jeopardy.

Nnamdi Asomugha Says 2 Years In Philly Shook His Confidence

Nnamdi Asomugha is trying to find himself again as a football player. Asomugha signed with the Eagles during the 2011 off-season, and was a consensus top two cornerback in the game, and a rich man after getting a $60 million deal in exchange. Fast forward two years, and Asomugha is in San Francisco fighting for his football life.  Asomugha is no longer considered the top corner...

AJ Jenkins could be on the 49ers chopping block

When the San Francisco 49ers drafted receiver AJ. Jenkins in the first round of the 2012 draft, a collective groan was heard all over the NFL landscape. Jenkins was a kid that was not pegged to go that high and quite frankly wasn’t really all that well known to the general public. The consensus feeling was that San Francisco made a big-time reach. San Francisco 49ers: Takeaways from Niners vs Broncos

The Denver Broncos beat the San Francisco 49ers 10-6 on the strength of Shaun Phillips’ fumble return for touchdown.  In their inagaural preseason game, both quarterbacks only played one series each and the game was all about strong defense and at times, inept offense.  The 49ers committed four turnovers while the Broncos only managed 220 total yards of offense.  Granted it’s...

Day 14 of San Francisco 49ers Training Camp: Defense Dominates & A.J. Jenkins’ Snaps Dwindle

Previously on day 13 of San Francisco 49ers training camp, Colin Kaepernick put on an offensive show.  On day 14, the 49ers’ defense dominated the practice field.  Kaepernick was sacked five times, rookie cornerback Marcus Cooper intercepted Kaepernick on a pass intended for Kyle Williams, and rookie cornerback Darryl Morris defended two Kaepernick passes to A.J. Jenkins...

TE Vernon Davis catching on with QB Colin Kaepernick: ‘Now we get out there and it's night and day’

San Francisco tight end Vernon Davis says his chemistry with QB Colin Kaepernick has gotten to the point where ‘it's night and day.’ Davis and Kaepernick are getting better each day, such as on a 30-yard pass that opened Monday's team drills.

NT Glenn Dorsey ready to live up to his potential, enjoying fresh start with 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers didn’t give DL Glenn Dorsey any assurances on his role when they signed him to a two-year, $6 million deal in March. He was the fifth overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft for the Kansas City Chiefs, but things didn’t work out there.

San Francisco 49ers: Anthony Dixon “Turned Up”

Anyone that has attended a San Francisco 49ers game can tell you how they saw a certain #24 running around prior to kickoff whether he was on the team receiving the ball or kicking it off. Jack Harbaugh used to tell his sons, Jim (49ers) and John (Ravens) to “Attack each day with an enthusiasm unknown to mankind!” This message must have resonated within the mind of Anthony Dixon...

Rookie Vance McDonald continues to make strides

(Eds: With AP Photos.) By JANIE McCAULEY AP Sports Writer Vance McDonald has been fortunate to spend his rookie summer as the understudy to veteran San Francisco tight end Vernon Davis, who has been eager to take McDonald on as a little brother and teammate, to guide him through the rigors of training camp and the regular season. McDonald is doing plenty of prep on his own, too...

49ers OC Greg Roman calls Alex Smith a ‘nameless, faceless opponent’

The 49ers on Friday play the Chiefs for their second exhibition game of the season. Any other year, this game doesn’t deserve a second thought. This year is different. There’s a familiar face on that other sideline, leading that offense. An old friend. Of course we’re talking about Alex Smith. OK, sure, it’s only preseason. Smith will be yanked before Aldon Smith and friends...

Day 15: 49ers Have First Fight of Camp

With the 49ers approaching the midway point of training camp, tempers boiled over as safeties C.J. Spillman and Michael Thomas got into a fight between plays Tuesday. Spillman was ejected from practice. Otherwise, San Francisco saw a good day from a number of pass catchers, including A.J. Jenkins. News and notes inside.

Colin Kaepernick and Vernon Davis – unstoppable in practice

The Colin Kaepernick-Vernon Davis connection continues to dazzle. They hooked up on a pretty 40-yard touchdown pass down the middle. Kaepernick who is sometimes criticized for his lack of touch dropped a beautiful pass into Davis between Carlos Rogers and Craig Dahl on another play. Rookie Vance McDonald did not practice after hardly participating on Saturday however Garrett Celek...

Randy Moss Officially Signs On With Fox Sports 1

From the NFL side Fox Sports 1 has done an excellent job putting together some interesting characters for their lineup. I am on record saying that I think Randy Moss will be better on TV than Ray Lewis. We will see how it all plays out. SB Nation breaks down Moss’ duties on the job. Fox Sports announced something that had been rumored since Friday: Moss will join Fox Sports 1 as...
