Found June 18, 2013 on NFL Trade Rumors:
Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports that there hasn’t been “any real movement” towards am agreement on a long-term extension for Bills S Jairus Byrd. A report from last month indicated that the two sides were $2 million apart in terms of annually salary. All indications are that Byrd is unwilling to offer the Bills a hometown discount and despite having close to $20 million in cap space to work with, Buffalo has remained cautious throughout the offseason. Byrd, 26, is already among the best safeties in the game and is in line to secure a huge contract on the open market next season, assuming of course that the Bills don’t use their franchise tag on him again. “You don’t overspend like mad on Mario Williams only to let your homegrown talent depart, and franchising again Byrd in 2013 would just be more expensive,” explains La Canfora. “It also isn’t exactly the way for a new coaching and front office regime to engender positive vibes in the locker room.” We have Spencer listed

Bills QB Competition is Open, But Not Even

Since the coronation as franchise savior drafting of QB EJ Manuel by the Buffalo Bills, one of the most talked about stories heading into camp has been whether Manuel will start week 1, or if Head Coach Doug Marrone (HCDM, for short) will turn to grizzled vet Kevin Kolb to minimize his own growing pains as a brand new head football coach. And shoot if you thought Buddy Nixon didn’t...

Bills, Jairus Byrd reportedly not close to getting a deal done

According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, there’s been no movement between the Buffalo Bills and safety Jairus Byrd who’s currently holding out after being slapped with the franchise tag. There hasn’t been any real movement in these talks, according to sources, so based on that alone one might not be optimistic. But, man, the Bills cannot afford to risk losing any good young...

Jairus Byrd’s Contract Situation, Part 4

As Jairus Byrd remains unsigned leading up to training camp and mandatory mini camp, how much do the Bills value the four-year safety? We’ve already determined the level of play he will probably reach over the upcoming seasons, how much that production is worth, and the ideal term for a new contract, but not whether the Bills think they really need him. Let’s begin...

Welcome to Circling the Wagons, where we compile the most recent Buffalo Bills news links from the past week or two and offer commentary on what’s to come.  EJ Manuel signs with the Bills. Good to see the inevitable come to an easy conclusion here. Remember rookie holdouts that took forever? Yeesh. If your team took a guy in the top ten or a QB at all, you were held hostage...

Manuel or Kolb: Who deserves to start for the Bills?

For the Buffalo Bills and new Head Coach Doug Marrone and the rest of his coaching staff, there is a lot of work that needs to be done in order to bring this team back into the playoff picture. It all starts (and may possibly end) with the QB competition between free agent signee and NFL veteran Kevin Kolb and rookie QB and first round draft pick EJ Manuel. Each quarterback has...

Fantasy Football Rookie Report: Bills WR Robert Woods

I guess I'll just be honest right off the bat; Robert Woods will not be someone you draft this season.Woods has incredible talent but there are too many variables that affect his performance. He may be a great mid-season pickup but his fantasy football ranking is in the wind now.The following are some variables that make Woods a horrible draft choice.Funky Quarterback SituationWe...

Mike Pettine on Hard Knocks Part 1: Pettine is Likes to Fight Guy

When the Buffalo Bills hired Mike Pettine away from the New York Jets earlier this offseason, my immediate thought wasn’t what a huge get the guy probably was for our defense (that was my second thought). No, the first images that came to mind were those of a salty mouthed, bald headed defensive coordinator of the New York Jets who was one of the more entertaining characters on...

The Buffalo Bills shocked many NFL fans when they chose EJ Manuel as their first round pick when every other quarterback was still available. Many experts believed that head coach Doug Marrone would pick his quarterback for the past few seasons with Syracuse University, Ryan Nassib. So why pick Manuel? From OTAs, it looks like Marrone wants to incorporate a new fast-paced offense that...

Brandon Albert’s future likely won’t be in Kansas City

According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, it looks like the ship has sailed on the Chiefs signing Brandon Albert to an extension. We’re well into the point on this list where I become much less confident a deal will be struck. The Chiefs tried to ink Albert long-term before franchising him. They tried like heck to trade him before doing the inevitable and drafting a left tackle...

Report: “Some sense” Broncos, Ryan Clady can get a deal done by next month

According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, there’s “some sense” that the Denver Broncos and left tackle Ryan Clady can get a deal done by next month. These sides haven’t been able to get on the same page as to Clady’s value, and sources said the kind of money the Broncos had on the table for a long-term deal, prior to placing the tag on Clady, simply were not in line...

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports that while the Broncos and OT Ryan Clady still have a ways to go regarding a long-term extension, “there is at least some sense that it could get done in the next month.“ La Canfora expects to see the negotiations to go ”right to the deadline.“ Denver’s previous offer was reportedly “not in line with what a top-five tackle will...

Twitter Wars: Mike Florio vs The Jaguars Mascot

Jaguars fans have not taken too kindly to the national media insinuating their franchise will one day move to London.  In fact, they've developed quite the reputation as one of the most tenacious fanbases in all of sports because of the lack of respect from the media.   With the announcement of Cowboy sized scoreboard coming to Everbank Field a sign of a future commitment...
