Yesterday, the Chargers fired head coach Norv Turner. Today, he had some not so nice words to say about the team (Credit: AP Photo) On Monday, the San Diego Chargers fired head coach Norv Turner and general manager A.J. Smith. While today, Smith took the high road and said the team was right to fire him, Turner took the low road and took a few shots at the Chargers. Over the last three seasons, the Chargers have failed to make the playoffs. Even when the team made the playoffs, they were often an easy out and failed to make the Super Bowl under Norv Turner. Today, Turner spoke about the Chargers chances at making the playoffs during the 2013 season. Turner believes those who want to see the Chargers in the playoffs next season, are going to be disappointed. “Someone wrote a few weeks ago that this team is not that far away from the playoffs. I would disagree. I know the things that would have to get done for that to happen. If this team comes next year and they get some things done to help them get better and are able to make the playoffs, I would hope it would be a surprise to all the Chargers fans, and they would be excited about it,” Turner said, via the San Diego Union-Tribune. ”I would hope it would not be the expectation starting in August because I think you need to give whoever the guy who comes in here and the group he brings in some time to get back this thing back to where it was.” It sounds to me like Turner is just a little scorned that the team fired him. This is almost like when you dump a girl and suddenly she has nothing but bad things to say about you. This is not a good look for Turner.
