The Minnesota Vikings finally get their first (home)win against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The final score 34-27 was in Wembley Stadium. The big story was Christian Ponder out with a broken rib and how Matt Cassel can step in to lead the team. Cassel answered that question fairly quick against a slumping Steelers team.

Even though Matt Cassel had a great game today, Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier told reporters afterwards that Christian Ponder will not lose his starting job.

I don’t understand...
Minnesota Vikings WR's Greg Jennings and Jerome Simpson became a double threat Sunday as quarterback Matt Cassel found ways to get the ball to the Vikings most proven and explosive receivers during Minnesota's 34-27 victory over Pittsburgh.
The Minnesota Vikings backup quarterback Matt Cassel just made life more difficult for injured QB Christian Ponder. The Vikings got hot early on and managed to hold on and win 34-27 after Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger fumbled in the red zone with eight seconds left in the game.
The good news is QB Matt Cassel came through and got an impressive win, the bad news is coach Leslie Frazier stated QB Christian Ponder is still the starter...whaaa??? It's becoming clear it's not Ponder's fault as too many are tied to his drafting, and they need him to succeed to keep their jobs.
The 2013 season was basically going to be over for one of the two teams being featured in London Sunday for the NFL's International Series. The Minnesota Vikings hope they resuscitated their season with Sunday's 34-27 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Minnesota is 1-3 thanks to a late-game play on defense, ball security and efficiency from quarterback Matt Cassel. Pittsburgh...
Can't Knock the Cassel
Oh man ... There was a moment in the game with about two minutes left where I was certain we were going to hit that 0-4 mark. I thought FOR SURE we were going to let another team drive it down our throats with little time left on the clock for us to respond, and we were going to hit that 0-4 mark. We were going to be well on our way to that top draft...
White Cassel trying to keep his job and Jennings showed more speed than I thought he had.
It was unknown whether sitting quarterback Christian Ponder (ribs) would improve a stymied passing attack but backup quarterback Matt Cassel's command was one of many reasons the Minnesota Vikings outlasted the Pittsburgh Steelers' late-game comeback to hold on for the 34-27 win on Sunday in London.

Leslie Frazier liked what he saw out of Matt Cassel, but he wasn’t willing to name him the starter after the Vikings’ first win. More time is needed for evaluation, Frazier indicated.
Adrian Peterson continued his assault on the NFL record book with another long run and another 100-yard rushing game. But he wasn’t the only Vikings player making an impact. Matt Cassel, Greg Jenning, Cordarrelle Patterson, Blair Walsh, Jared Allen, Chad Greenway all made recorded their names on the Vikings and/or NFL statistics.
Matt Cassel and Greg Jennings connected on Sunday for a big 70-yard touchdown in London. The play gave them both their first TD as a member of the Vikings.

According to Pro Football Talk, the Minnesota Vikings plan on waiving tackle DeMarcus Love on Tuesday now that his four game suspension is over. Since that news surfaced, several have asked me if I think the Pittsburgh Steelers will have interest in claiming the former sixth-round draft pick and I suppose it could really go either way with him.
Love, who was suspended this past April...
Jerome Simpson has already surpassed what he did last season for the Vikings, becoming a favorite target of Matt Cassel on Sunday. Plus, get two dozen notes that help tell the story of the Vikings' 34-27 win.
Brett Favre is, undoubtedly, enjoying life while basking in the glow of early retirement. It's a life complete with a laid back high school football coaching gig and a lifetime supply of Wranglers.
These days, when he's not making the rounds on award shows, Favre hunkers down among the immaculate magnolia pines and spry white tailed deer that dot his sprawling...
