Today The New York Times' NFL writer Judy Battista profiles Andrew Luck and his impressive football acumen in the paper's Sports Section.  Even with his low profile, aw-shucks demeanor, the young Colts QB manages to demand national attention every week through is eye-opening ability to play the position.  Battista, who also has a nice article on all 5 NFL rookies, manages to put together a few tidbits for the national audience that some Colts fans may or may not have read yet: Christensen, the Colts’ quarterbacks coach, had gotten his first sense of how quickly Luck absorbed information after the scouting combine, when the team gave him the portion of the playbook that included the five-step passing game. By the time Luck, the top pick in the draft, got off his flight in California on his way back to Stanford University, he reached out to the Colts. “O.K., good, what’s next?” he said, shocking coaches who thought that was a few weeks’ worth of work. I think we are se...

Indianapolis Colts try to stay #CHUCKSTRONG in week 6 vs. Jets

The Indianapolis Colts try to maintain the momentum gained after last week’s stunning upset over the Green Bay Packers as they meet the New York Jets Sunday at MetLife Stadium. It was as emotional a win as any you could imagine for the Colts, whose head coach Chuck Pagano is battling recently diagnosed leukemia. It is up to interim head coach and offensive coordinator Bruce Arians...

Armstrong: Respecting the Rookie

It seems like the league's worst 2011 team is becoming the feel-good story of 2012; Kevin Armstrong, who writes for the Jets, has a great article on Andrew Luck, maybe the most complimentary I've seen on the Colts's QB. Luck is a 6-4, 234-pound rookie capable of throwing from all angles with uncommon touch. Already able to identify his progressions and reads, he is...

Analysis of Week 6 Roster Moves – Offense

With a bevy of roster moves this week, it is probably best to look at them in a few different articles to give them the proper amount of analysis. First, let’s take offense. The Colts this week have sent OG Seth Olsen to Injured Reserve (with the “Designated to Return” label) and waived TE/FB Dominique Jones. Two players who have seen significant snaps and both started games...

Andrew Luck and the Colts could be the team that starts Tebow-Mania in New York

Last week Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts played extremely well against the Green Bay Packers and Aaron Rodgers. On the last 2 minutes of the game, Andrew Luck led his team down the field for the win. This week they will face a team who has their backs against the wall in the New York Jets. There has been tons of drama over the past couple of weeks with Sanchez and Tebow...

Five Colts do not make trip to NY

Four-time Pro Bowler Robert Mathis and starting running back Donald Brown did not make the trip when the Indianapolis Colts traveled to New York on Saturday for their game against the Jets. Neither absence was a surprise. The Colts (2-2) had said both would miss two to three weeks with knee injuries. Linebacker Jerry Hughes is expected to replace Mathis in the starting lineup,...

Sabino: Colts Fantasy Check

Last week, everyone who chose to play Luck and Wayne were rewarded; my brother sat both of them in his league, and lost by about 20 points. Poor guy. Anyway, so you don't make the same mistakes with Colts players this week, here's a nice fantasy article, curtesy of David Sabino. Interestingly, he suggests teams pick up Vick Ballard, given New York's clearly porous defensive...

Following a Legend: Andrew Luck Week 4 vs. Green Bay Packers

Andrew Luck had his best game yet in leading the Colts back from a 21-3 halftime deficit over the Green Bay Packers. It ties the largest comeback win of the season, and the largest by a rookie since Matthew Stafford’s 21-point comeback over Cleveland in 2009. For the third straight game Luck led the offense on a go-ahead scoring drive with less than a minute to go, and Green...

Colts will be without Robert Mathis for 2-3 weeks

According to Mike Chappell of the Indy Star, Colts outside linebacker Robert Mathis will be out for the next 23 weeks with a sprained left knee. This is a big blow to the Colts’ defense. They paid Mathis big money to re-sign in Indy while they re-tool as an organization.

NFP Playbook: All-22 Review of Luck's TD Pass to Beat the Packers

The National Football Post's Matt Bowen broke down Andrew Luck's game winning touchdown to Reggie Wayne using the NFL's All-22 footage.  Bowen explained the offensive and defensive formations, routes, and coverage on the play and showed why the play was successful: - Where is the inside help from the Mike and FS? Look at Luck in the pocket. No hesitation for the Colts’...

Indianapolis Colts fan picks nose during Packers game (Video)

Yeah, I don't really have an intro for this one but let this video be a lesson to all you nose-pickers out there. If you do decided to pick, make sure that someone isn't filming you digging for nose gold:

Spotlight Matchup: Mark Sanchez vs. the Colts' Pass Defense

After a huge win agains the Packers this past Sunday, the Colts will take on the circus in New York on Sunday.  The Jets have had their problems in 2012, being extremely disappointing after a blowout win against Buffalo in Week 1.  A lot of the problems have stemmed from the Jets most visible problem: quarterback. Mark Sanchez continues to be a terrible excuse for an NFL quarterbak...

CBS: Colts/Jets Preview

Even with their wins over Minnesota and Green Bay, the Colts are being picked as a 3.5-point underdog; CBS has them losing by 7 in their weekly preview. Their score (17-10) would be an interesting outcome, especially because:- it would be 7 points less than the Colts's lowest score this year - since week 1 against Buffalo, the Jets have scored 10, 23, 0, and 17 points and are...

Pick of the week: Colts (+3.5) at Jets

Coming off of an emotional victory against the Packers on the back of Chuck Pagano, this could have the makings of a let down game. That is of course if the Jets had anything resembling an offensive attack and had the ability to put up points in any traditional manner. Betting against the Jets can be tricky, because they will come along with a Joe McKnight return to the house...

Quit playing for the FG

As a football fan, I see this every week.  And, every time, it drives me crazy.  A team will have 3rd and manageable either inside the Red Zone or close to it, and what do they do?  They’ll call a run into the line, and they will play for the FG.  Consider this an open letter to football teams.  Here’s what I’ve seen in just the last few weeks:   Jacksonville v. Indianapolis...

Preview And Prediction: Colts (2-2) @ Jets (2-3) No matter how…

Preview And Prediction: Colts (2-2) @ Jets (2-3) No matter how many outsiders call for Tim Tebow to take over as the New York Jets’ starting quarterback, coach Rex Ryan is standing behind Mark Sanchez. Andrew Luck showed last week why the Indianapolis Colts have plenty of confidence in him to guide the franchise’s rebuilding. Sanchez and the foundering Jets look to get on track...
