Oakland Raiders back-up quarterback Terrelle Pryor is showing improvement and progression at organized team activities. Raiders head coach Dennis Allen likes the development he has seen out of Pryor.

“I think he did like a lot of guys out here today,” Allen said. “I think he had some good plays and I think he had some bad plays. That’s to be expected this time of year. I’m not going to read too much into that, because what I have seen from Terrelle Pryor is day-in and day-out he gets a little bit better and that’s all we can ask for, is that he keeps making progress and he’s done that so far.”

Pryor was selected by the Raiders in the Supplemental Draft last year in exchange for a third round pick this year. The 6-6, 235 pound quarterback only played one snap last season for Oakland against the Kansas City Chiefs.

He did however have much success as a member of the Buckeyes. In his final season as a junior, Pryor completed 65 percent of his passes and accumulated 2,772 passing yards with 27 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. He also rushed for 754 yards and four scores.

The signing of Matt Leinart in early May pushed Pryor back to third string on the Raiders depth chart. Leinart's experience and familiarity with the offense give him the inside track to win the back-up job to starter Carson Palmer. Even as the third quarterback, Pryor's athleticism combined with a strong arm could help the Raiders this season. It will be interesting to see what new offensive coordinator Greg Knapp has in mind for Pryor. Right now the Raiders haven't adjusted their offense to fit Pryor's strengths but by the time training camp comes along, look for Knapp to put in a package for Pryor.

“I think what we’ve done is install our offense and the way that we are going to call plays, and then whatever the situation dictates, whoever the guy that’s pulling the trigger back there, we will adjust our scheme accordingly,” Allen said. “But we haven’t put in any particular plays in for anybody. We’ve really installed the scheme more than game-planning for anyone.”
