Well he was CLOSED to being a well-known BENCHED Quarterback in the NFL, but Carson Palmer is the BEST HOPE for the Oakland Raiders, as they've completed a trade for him.

The Raiders and Bengals worked out a deal Monday night to bring the EX-Bengals QB to the west coast. While the Raiders have a guy to go to during this season (to hopefully continue playing winning football, and take them into the playoffs), the compensation for the Bengals is that they'll get two draft picks (one in 2012, and another in 2013).

Now with that 2nd draft pick (coming in 2013); the deal is that if the Oakland Raiders DON'T WIN A PLAYOFF GAME in the 2011-2012 NFL playoffs, then the Bengals will receive a 2nd round draft pick, but if the Raiders do make it to the postseason, and WIN AT LEAST ONE PLAYOFF GAME, then the draft pick in 2013 will AUTOMATICALLY turn into a 1st round draft pick.

Bold move on the Raiders part, but something they REALLY NEEDED TO DO.

Also, it's being reported that had the Bengals owner Mike Brown not allowed Palmer to leave for Oakland (in the trade), then the Raiders would have fallen back on Vince Young of the Philadelphia Eagles.

A source says that MOST LIKELY the Eagles would have HELPED Young to pack his bags for Oakland, if the Raiders had contacted the Eagles about a possible trade.
