The Omaha Nighthawks are back at Rosenblatt Stadium Thursday night, and they will look to accomplish two things - take over first place in the United Football League standings, and avenge an earlier loss to the Las Vegas Locomotives at Sam Boyd Stadium.
The Nighthawks (3-1) and the Locos (4-1) will hook up in a potential "The Championship" preview Thursday in Omaha, and there is a good amount at stake. A Nighthawks victory not only puts them in control of their own destiny with three regular-season games to play, but it also would put them no worse than 1½ games ahead of third place with three weeks of play remaining.
Omaha and Las Vegas played each other in Week 4 in Las Vegas, and the Nighthawks were on the wrong end of a 22-10 final score. Omaha was ahead 10-3 early in the second quarter, but yielded 19 straight points the rest of the way.
Some of the team statistics from that first meeting the Nighthawks want to improve on include 13 first down...
