Found July 26, 2012 on Total Titans:
I started with Akeem Ayers yesterday, writing about why I wanted to write about him and giving a bit of an in-depth look at his play in the Week 12 game against the Buccaneers. For this post, I also watched in detail his performance against the Broncos in Week 3 and his day against the Jaguars in Week 16.In those two games, I saw the same general mix of good and bad. Neither the Broncos nor the Jaguars spent much time running directly at him, either with a fullback (so I can't compare his performance against them to his day against the Bucs' Lorig) or without. For the most part, and as far as I could see (a key limitation dealing with a television broadcast), I thought he did a very nice job against the opposing tight ends in both the passing game and the running game, with only a couple miscues. He did lose his footing a couple times against the Jaguars, which may have been partly a turf issue. As I was aware before this post, Ayers spent a lot more time in nickel as the sea...

Titans could decide to move on from Kenny Britt

Getty Images Mike Patton of TitanInsider.com believes there’s a chance that the Tennessee Titans could end up deciding at some point to move on from wide receiver Kenny Britt with all his off the field problems and his inability to stay healthy. “Don’t be surprised if the Titans begin getting plans together to move on with or without Britt,” wrote Patton.  ”The decision...

Titans RB Chris Johnson Will Be an Elite Fantasy Option in 2012

All Personal Vendetta’s aside, Chris Johnson will be a top fantasy option in 2012. The 2011 season was not a great one for Tennessee Titans running back Chris Johnson. Despite the fact that he got a rich new contract after a lengthy holdout last offseason, Johnson ran with little enthusiasm or effort to start the season causing some to give up on him, myself included...

Tennessee Titans: 3 Questions Heading into Training Camp

The Tennessee Titans sit at a crossroads entering the new season. The team enjoyed a surprising amount of success under first-year head coach and Oilers/Titans great Mike Munchak. A renaissance year from Matt Hasselbeck overshadowed a throwaway year for Chris Johnson, no longer the CJ2K of the past.   After narrowly missing the playoffs with a 9-7 record, do the Titans trot the...

Titans place WR Kenny Britt, S Martin on PUP list

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- The Tennessee Titans have placed Kenny Britt on the physically unable to perform list as the receiver recovers from his third surgery on his knees within the past 10 months. The Titans also placed rookie safety Markelle Martin on the list Wednesday. Both can practice once they pass a physical. Tennessee reports for training camp Friday, and Britt's...

Titans' Britt placed on PUP list

Titans wide receiver Kenny Britt will start training camp on the physically unable to perform list. Britt had reconstructive right knee surgery in October 2011 after tearing the ACL and MCL in September against the Broncos. Britt had a "routine clean-up" in May according to general manager Ruston Webster, and an arthroscopic surgery on his left knee in June. Britt must...

Titans training camp opens with questions

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Tennessee Titans coach Mike Munchak usually considers the opening days of training camp his favorite in football yet already there are issues to face. Two of the team's top receivers, Kenny Britt and rookie Kendall Wright, are unavailable. And the starting quarterback job figures to be hotly contested with incumbent Matt Hasselbeck trying to fend off...

Matt Hasselbeck Opens Camp as Starter

Matt Hasselbeck opened training camp as Tennessee's starting quarterback, according to their official team website. Fantasy Spin: The veteran will see fierce competition from second-year pro Jake Locker though, and the strong-armed and athletic Washington product would hold far more fantasy upside if he ultimately overtakes Hasselbeck for the job.

Titans place Kenny Britt on the PUP list

Getty Images According to John Glennon of The Tennessean, the Titans have placed wide receiver Kenny Britt on the PUP list while he continues to recover from offseason surgery on his knee. Once Britt is able to pass a physical he’ll be allowed to practice.

Titans 53-man roster prediction at the start of training camp

It missed it last year, but it's time for another post in an annual tradition, namely my attempt to predict the Titans' final 53-man roster at the start of training camp. I didn't get to do one last year, just a pre-free agency overview of the team's roster, so see 2010 for the latest incarnation of this. The Titans currently have 88 players on the roster, two short...

Titans Notebook: RB Johnson sets lofty goal

Running back Chris Johnson said his goal is to rush for at least 2,000 yards, which he accomplished in 2009. Said Johnson, "I feel like a lot of people have written me off. I still went over 1,000 yards (last season) but it wasn't a CJ2K year. So a lot of people are going to write me off. ... I want to be the first one to do it twice, that's certainly a goal of mine...
