One Last Appeal For Another Bat

The Mets absolutely need to add another bat. They have 3 championship caliber offensive players, another who may or may not be a potent force (Delgado) and that is it. Church had a terrific beginning to the season but we have no idea how he will respond to his injury and he had never been consistently productive before (the Nats had been desperate for him to claim a regular job for 2+ years and he was unable to do so). I like what Murphy adds, but that type of production is simply not sufficient for a corner OF slot, especially with uncertainty at the other corner. Tatis was a terrific story last year, but it is unreasonable to expect him to repeat that performance. And then there is Castillo and Schneider, about whom the less said the better. I think this horribly unbalanced lineup accounts for a lot of their offensive struggles (rather unfair - they scored a lot, but it was almost all due to the top of the lineup.
