Cornerback Mike Harris became the second of the Jaguars' six draft picks to sign a contract. Terms were not disclosed.
Harris was a sixth-round pick out of Florida State, where he was second on the team with 58 tackles last season. The signing led to the Jaguars releasing fourth-year cornerback Morgan Trent.
Jacksonville also signed undrafted rookie cornerback Dontrell Johnson...

As he enters the final year of his contract, Jaguars’ linebacker Daryl Smith says he will not hold out to get a new contract. Smith, who turned 30 this offseason, will make 4.7 million this year, which is a little low for one of the best and underrated linebackers in the league. ProFootballFocus graded him as the 2nd best 4-3 outside linebacker in the league last year. He could...
Yesterday, the media became aware that the City of Jacksonville had notified the Jaguars that they were in default of their lease, and the termination process had been put in motion. To say the least, that's a dire piece of news for a team that is expected to move by many in the media, and a short-lived firestorm began. The reason the news was so huge is very simple. Let's play a game. Let's pretend that you are Shahid Khan. Seven months ago, you spent $760M to purchase the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Jaguars. The NFL team that plays in the league's 3rd smallest market. The team that has had so many issues avoiding blacked out home games that former players and Jacksonville mayor Alvin Brown, himself, have been involved in door-to...
The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed sixth-round cornerback Mike Harris to a four-year, $2.216 million contract.
The deal includes base salaries of $390,000, $480,000, $570,000 and $660,000.
Harris played collegiately at Florida State.
It may surprise some NFL fans to find out that Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew led the league in rushing in 2011 with 1,606 yards along with a league leading 343 carries.
He also remained productive as a pas receiver with 43 receptions for 373 yards, and scored 11 total touchdowns (eight rushing). He clearly was the centerpiece of a Jacksonville offense that...
I wrote yesterday about the optimism that's running rampant through the NFL at this time of the year, especially inside the Dolphins' organization. Landing HBO's Hard Knocks series should provide the team with considerable exposure as they try to prove their critics wrong. For the first time in a long time, the Dolphins are showing genuine signs of optimism.
