Found November 08, 2011 on Cincinnati Bengals Blog:
Before we really ramp up everything tomorrow with Steelers week, a couple other notes to close out Tuesday: * Andy Dalton is up for Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week honors for the third time this season after his three-touchdown game last week against Tennessee. The other nominees are Redskins RB Roy Helu, Atlanta WR Julio Ones, Dallas RB DeMarco Murray and Arizona CB/PR Patrick Peterson. Fans can vote at NFL.com until noon on Friday. * The Nov. 20 game at Baltimore will remain a 1 p.m. kickoff but the league has already announced that the Dec. 4 Indianapolis-New England game will not be NBC’s Sunday Night game. The Bengals-Steelers game has a chance of moving to that spot but the biggest detriment is that the Steelers play four nights later against the Browns. The league though has the Jets hosting New England this Sunday and traveling to Denver next Thursday, so there is some precedence. In the Steelers case, both games would be at home. The week before the Bengals game, the Steelers ...

NFL Rookie of The Year: Comparing Andy Dalton and Cam Newton

Two weeks ago during the Bengals/Seahawks game, I posed the question: “If Dalton leads the Bengals to the playoffs, and Cam Newton leads the Panther to 5 or 6 wins, who would win the NFL offensive rookie of the year?” The fact that this question is even controversial just boggles my mind. But go ahead and listen to the 386 NFL analysts at ESPN, surf the web for NFL mid-season...

Mike Shanahan is mum on Sunday’s starting RB

Washington Redskins coach Mike Shanahan said he was pleased with the play of rookie Roy Helu in Helu’s first professional start, but the coach declined to say whether the Nebraska product would start next week against Miami. Helu had a franchise record 14 catches – most of them on dump-off passes from John Beck -- for 105 yards and carried the ball 10 times for 41 yards in Washington’s...

Bengals comfortable in whole new offense

The task seemed overwhelming at first. The Cincinnati Bengals were trying to teach an entirely new offense to a group led by a rookie receiver, with only two weeks to go before the first preseason game. Everyone expected a rough start. A 6-2 mark at the season's halfway point? Dream on. ''I think it's definitely better than anybody would have expected it to have...

Wired Up! Week 10

Hot Off the Grill Roy Helu RB, Redskins In PPR leagues, this guy could be a top 15 RB for the rest of the season, but in standard leagues, think top 20-25 which is starter material.  I’ve got to think that Ryan Torain had his chance and didn’t do a whole lot with it.  My partner has said from ...

Fantasy Football Week 10 Waiver Wire Pickups

At this point in the season, the fantasy football waiver wire is mighty thin. There is nobody on the wire that is going to turn your season around, however there are a few safety valves that are worthy pickups if you have the room on your bench. Week Nine Pretend Football Notes

Week 9 was an eye opener just like every week of the season. Nothing ever goes as you plan. I’m looking at you Darrius, Willis, Timmy, Beanie, Miles, Reggie and the whole Peanuts gang. But we move on and hope we make the correct choices from here on out! Or at least more correct than those other dudes and ladies in our leagues. Here’s a look at some of the news from Sunday. Aaron...

Shanahan Praises Team Stick-To-It-iveness

AP Image After any tough loss–or tough streak–it’s hard for a coach to find the right things to say to inspire.  Egos get fragile under pressure, and the character and culture of a team can be lost in moments of frustration. Following yesterday’s loss, head coach Mike Shanahan lamented the results, but praised the effort of his men, who did not give in to expectations or...
