Joe Flacco’s big pay day contract that he received from the Baltimore Ravens might influence the deal that the Green Bay Packers will offer to Aaron Rodgers. Supposedly the team is working with their quarterback to possibly make him the highest paid player of all time. Rumors are saying that he could get about $25 million per year. Currently the Packers have a contract with Aaron that ends after the 2014 season. Rodgers threw for 4,295 yards and 39 touchdowns this past season and help bring the Packers to the playoffs four years in a row. Rodgers was named league MVP in 2011. That year he had 4,643 passing yards with 45 touchdowns.   Speaking of quarterbacks in Washington D.C. their signal caller Robert Griffin III has a goal of playing in Week 1 of this upcoming season for the Redskins. Robert released a statement to ESPN earlier this week. The statement said: “My knee is getting better every day. The doctors say I’m ahead of schedule. My goal is to return healthy in Week 1 but if I’m not ready then I will wait until I am, however long that is. My first NFL season and my injury that ended it showed me a lot about the league, my team and myself. I know where my responsibility is within the dilemma that led to me having surgery to repair my knee and all parties involved know their responsibilities as well. I’m looking forward to playing the game we all love so much again and not behind at the negative. Thanks for the overwhelming level of support that I’ve received, sic em (Baylor) Bears and hail to the Redskins!!”   RG III’s surgeon also spoke with ESPN and said, “RG III is one those superhumans. First patient I ever had like that was Bo Jackson. And recently I, of course, had Adrian Peterson, who is also superhuman. They have an unbelievable ability to recover, whereas a normal human being may not be able to recover.” If RG III is not healthy hopefully the Redskins will not put him on the field until he is back to 100 percent. They don’t want a repeat performance of last season. Osi Umenyiora has a new place to call home in his NFL career. The Atlanta Falcons signed the free agent yesterday. According to league sources it is a two year deal worth $8.5 million. Umenyiora posted on his Twitter feed, “#RISE UP. The rise up phrase is the Falcons’ slogan. Osi has set a few team records along the way with his time with the New York Giants. He had 10 forced fumbles in 2010 and he had six sacks in a 2007 win over Philadelphia. In his eleven year career Osi has a total of 75 sacks and 32 forced fumbles. He will bring some veteran leadership to the Falcons defense who let a few of veterans go this offseason.
