If Green Bay Packers tight end D.J. Williams is looking stronger in training camp, it’s because he said he wrestled cows during the off-season.
“I wrestle cows everyday," Williams said. “Back home in Arkansas, we don't have anything else to do.”
Really? Wresting a cow? How exactly do you do that? “It's very difficult to put him on the ground,” Williams said. “If you can wrap the hind leg with the front leg, you have a good chance if you get enough push.”

Packers’ tight end D.J. Williams says he wrestles cows in the offseason
Green Bay Packers tight end D.J. Williams may have the most unusual offseason work out routine of any football player ever. Believe it or not, he says that he wrestles cows to stay in shape during the offseason.
“I wrestle cows every day,” Williams said. “Back home in Arkansas, we don’t have anything else to do.”
Williams said that having roommates that were from the...
A Little Support For Packers MD Jennings
With the departure of former starting safety Charlie Peprah, who was released in a very similar manner to former inside linebacker Brandon Chillar for failing his physical at the start of training camp in 2010, all eyes now look towards Charles Woodson, MD Jennings and Jerron McMillian to see which ends up being the starting safety opposite Morgan Burnett.
Only a couple of problems...
Packers 2012 Training Camp Depth Chart: Week 1
Jarrett Bush holds a starting cornerback position though the first week of camp.
As the Green Bay Packers Training Camp unfolds, I am going to do my best to track the players along the depth chart. While things will certainly change over the course of the preseason, this gives us an idea of how the coaches are valuing the players.
Please note that this is not a projection, but rather...
Packers Williams shines, credits cow wrestling
GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Packers second-year tight end D.J. Williams is really starting to get comfortable during the early stages of training camp in Green Bay.
On the field, Williams has consistently been a standout performer on offense throughout the first four practices. Nearly every pass thrown his way has stuck to his hands. It took less than one hour into training camp for Williams...
5 Questions About Charles Woodson at Safety (and maybe a few answers)
By now you’ve probably all heard that the Packers plan to have Charles Woodson line up at safety this season.
To try and figure out exactly what that means for Woodson, the defense and the Packers, I asked myself five questions. I even tried to answer a few of them. Unfortunately, we won’t know if any of those answers are correct until the season is underway.
Q: How often will...
Gurley hopes to be Lambeau Leaping soon
GREEN BAY, Wis. -- It wasn't quite a Lambeau Leap, but Packers wide receiver Tori Gurley did the next best thing during Day 4 of Packers training camp.
Practicing across the street from Lambeau Field at the team's outdoor facility, Ray Nitschke Field, Gurley got up-close and personal with a few of the approximately 2,000 fans in attendance.
Gurley, Green Bay's tallest...
Packers believe passing game has yet to peak
GREEN BAY, Wis. It was almost too easy. Aaron Rodgers and the Packers' high-scoring, pass-first, multi-threat offense were nearly unstoppable throughout most of last season. Rodgers seemed capable of executing Green Bay's scheme while methodically spreading his passes around to whichever receiver he wanted. At times, the ease with which he did so made it appear as if Rodgers...
Packers RB Green impresses in comeback from injury
When the Green Bay Packers decided not to re-sign veteran running back Ryan Grant in the offseason, they didn't quite know if one of his potential replacements would be ready for the start of the upcoming season.
But Alex Green appears to be a fast healer.
The second-year player has caught the eye of coaches and teammates since returning to the field for the start of the Packers...
Hargrove bringing energy to Packers practices
Anthony Hargrove is back with the Packers.
The defensive linemen missed two practices with a personal matter but returned on Monday. He gets limited snaps because of his impending eight-game suspension to start the regular season for his involvement in the New Orleans Saints' bounty scandal.
That doesn't stop him from being boisterous and energetic. He has fun with jawing...
Packers cut Anthony Hargrove
Defensive end Anthony Hargrove, already facing an eight-game suspension for his role in the Saints bounty pool, has been released by the Green Bay Packers.
The NFL has said the Saints' bounty program paid defensive players improper cash bonuses for hits that injured opponents from 2009 through 2011.
The 29-year-old Hargrove has denied NFL accusations that he lied to league...
Packers TE Jermichael Finley Back At Practice
Green Bay Packers tight end Jermichael Finley has returned to practice after sitting out several days following what his wife described on Twitter was a mild concussion. Jason Wilde of ESPN Milwaukee reports Finley was participating in practice this morning but that he has been held out of full 11-on-11 work. That makes sense. The Packers will work him in slowly as he comes back...
Competition heats up for Packers starting CB
GREEN BAY, Wis. One of the most competitive position battles taking place in Packers training camp is to see which cornerback wins the starting outside spot on the opposite side of proven veteran Tramon Williams.
After three training camp practices, seventh-year player Jarrett Bush appears to be in the lead by a relatively significant margin. Sam Shields, who had a very good rookie...
Bruise holds Jennings out of practice
GREEN BAY, Wis. As the Packers put on pads Saturday for the first time this season on Day 3 of training camp practices, there were a few important players missing.
Wide receiver Greg Jennings was out with an elbow bruise, an injury he suffered during Friday's practice. But coach Mike McCarthy wasn't too concerned about Jennings' status going forward.
"I would...
Rookie Duo Stands Out Along Defensive LIne
After Friday’s practice, Jerel Worthy’s praises were being sung. After Saturday’s practice, Mike Daniels got some attention. Head coach Mike McCarthy likes what he sees thus far in two rookies in an effort to put some “juice” back in the Packers' defensive line.
