Managing the National Football Leagues salary cap is no easy task. Ask six-time NFL Executive of the Year Bill Polian. During a special edition free agency show Monday on ESPN, Polian and former Dallas Cowboys coach Bill Parcells discussed several aspects of free agency and navigating the salary cap. Parcells mentioned the Cowboys when talking about teams that are top heavy with big contracts. For the upcoming season, the Cowboys 12 highest-paid players represent 67 percent of the money being paid to the 51 players under their salary cap. Not quite as bad as what Polian had a few years ago when he was vice chairman of the Indianapolis Colts. Polian said one year he had 12 players make up about 78 percent of the Colts salary. It only works if the linchpin, the quarterback plays at a high level through all of his career, Polian said. If you have a drop-off, as we did when Peyton Manning got hurt, then you cant handle it, that theory doesnt work. Parcells added that he doesnt thi...

Cowboys Will Rely Heavily on Draft to fix Offensive Line

Free Agency is three days deep and Cowboys fans are salivating at some pretty good players going bye-bye as we remain handcuffed to our horrid cap management. If the season started today, the Cowboys would not win more than 8 games. The offensive line from 2012 remains fully intact and that should be scaring the crap outta fans. The #1 weakness going into the upcoming season is our...

Former GM Bill Polian: Detroit Lions new Greatest Show on Turf

The Detroit Lions finished an extremely disappointing 4-12 this past season. A big drop off for the team after making a playoff appearance just the year before. With how underwhelming the team was, everyone knew the Lions might be big players in free agency because they needed to upgrade numerous positions across their roster. The Lions ultimately had a big Tuesday in free agency...
