Seattle Times:
The NFL has become a passing league. That's what they tell me anyway. And by they, I mean anyone who is trying to put into context the historical passing numbers that are being put up whether it's Drew Brees breaking Dan Marino's NFL record for single-season passing yardage or the 10 different players who passed for more than 4,000 yards this season. Yep, that's right: Ten. That's almost one-third of the starters in the league.Seven of those quarterbacks appeared in the playoffs, only two are still alive. This is brought up because it's become accepted that you just don't win in the NFL without an elite quarterback. At least you don't win consistently enough to be a perennial playoff participant.I believe this is true. I just don't believe that single elite quarterback is as important when it comes to determining postseason success. This is important as it applies to the Seahawks. Long-term quarterback is the single biggest question for this franchis...

Drew Brees and His Next Pay Day
When the New Orleans Saints traveled to San Francisco to face the Ninersat Candlestick Park in the NFC Divisional round this past weekend they were vastly favored to advance to the Conference Title game. As fate has it, the Niners defense was as stellar as they’ve been all

Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, Tom Brady All More Qualified for MVP Than Peyton Manning, Steve McNair in 2003
What does having an MVP quarterback get you? For the Saints and Packers, not much. That's the case after the Saints and Packers were both stunned over the weekend with losses to the 49ers and Giants, respectively. The season for either Drew Brees or Aaron Rodgers, though, isn't yet over, as one of the two quarterbacks will almost assuredly be named league MVP during Super...
Your Updated NFL Playoffs Announcing Schedule
That picture pretty much sums up my feelings about how the Divisional Playoffs went with Drew Brees and the Saints knocked out by the Niners after one of the great all-time playoff games. Maybe Drew can take the time to try his hand at television in the meantime if the opportunity arises as we suggested yesterday. Alas, the Playoffs go on with Championship Sunday just five days...

Ouster Of Brees And Rodgers Looms Ominously For Brady
Congratulations, Tom Brady! You just knocked Tim Tebow out of the playoffs and saved us an additional week of soft focus Rick Reilly columns about how Tebow is a good quarterback but an even BETTER human being. That's the good news. The bad news is that you are the last man standing when it comes to elite QBs carrying lousy defenses.
There were three teams in the divisional...
Top Ten Fantasy Football Value Picks of 2011
By Adam McGill
Fantasy football is normally not won by the glamour picks such as Aaron Rodgers or Drew Brees, but rather the impressive late round picks such as Cam Newton or Jordy Nelson. Value picks help fill out a fantasy squad, and can either make a team sit in the basement or round out a roster of Pro Bowlers. Below are the top-ten fantasy football value picks of the past...
SF Niners look to cut off Eli Manning at pass
By HANK GOLA DAILY NEWS SPORTS WRITER SANTA CLARA, Calif. — They didn’t exactly shut down Drew Brees Saturday but they did beat him. Now the 49ers face another quarterback with gaudy stats — as well as a Super Bowl MVP trophy — in Eli Manning.
