Found December 05, 2011 on Dave Krieg's Strike Beard:
After an almost unfathomably favorable Sunday of NFL results, the Seahawks are now two games out of the final NFC Wild Card spot with four games to play. Seattle's playoff probabilities have risen up to 6.5%, which doesn't sound high, but it's risen up from 1.3% just two weeks ago. The Seahawks wouldn't be MATHEMATICALLY eliminated by a single loss during this final month, but realistically Seattle needs to go 4-0 to keep their playoff hopes viable. The best way to look at things now? The Seahawks are now playing in the "NFC WILD CARD DIVISION," and these are the current standingsBears 7-5Falcons 7-5Lions 7-5Giants 6-6Seahawks 5-7 Cardinals 5-7 It's important to remember that the Seahawks only need to finish 2nd in this division to make the playoffs, NOT 1st. It's very plausible for the Seahawks to climb into 3rd in this division if they can beat the Rams and Bears over the next two weeks. Thanks to the magic of the ESPN Playoff Machine, we know tha...

Seattle back from break with more line changes

The Seattle Seahawks have returned from a four-day break with more changes on an already banged up offensive line. The Seahawks placed left tackle Russell Okung on injured reserve on Tuesday after he suffered a torn pectoral muscle in last Thursday's 31-14 win over Philadelphia. The Seahawks signed guard Mike Gibson to add depth on the offensive line, but the big changes are...

CHEAP Shot: Seattle Seahawks LT Russell Okung Out For Season

Q reports on the Seattle Seahawks injury situation. The bad news continues to mount for the offensive line. Left tackle Russell Okung has a torn right pectoral muscle that he suffered in Thursday's (Dec. 1) game against the Philadelphia Eagles. He was thrown to the ground by Trent Cole after the play. Seahawks rookie guard John Moffitt has been suspended four games for violating the league's policy against performance-enhancing drugs, Tim Booth of The Associated Press reports. Raheem Brock to cops: ‘You guys don’t take care of your athletes out here?’

Seahawks defensive end Raheem Brock apparently has an interesting take on the relationship between athletes and law enforcement. He apparently expects special treatment from cops. “You don’t take care of your athletes out here?” he asked a state trooper who processed him for drunken driving after a 2010 arrest in Seattle. It’s treatment Brock suggested that...

Morning links: A healthy Jackson?

In my story today, Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll remarked at how much better quarterback Tarvaris Jackson look in practice the week leading up to the team’s 31-14 win over Philadelphia. And Jackson proved in his play, finishing 13 of 16 for 190 yards and an 11-yard touchdown to Golden Tate. Jackson finished with a season-high 137.0 passer rating. While not fully...

Raheem Brock To Washington State Cops During DUI Stop: "You Guys Don't Take Care Of Your Athletes Out Here?"

Maybe there was a reason Seahawks defensive end Raheem Brock felt he was within his rights pull a dine and dash on a $27 tab at a Philly restaurant, his conviction for which we told you about last week. It seems Brock is used to getting preferential treatment from police in Philly and in other places. Philadelphia magazine inquired into Brock's DUI arrest in Seattle late last...

Morning links: The making of Mebane

For my feature on Brandon Mebane today, I had an opportunity to spend some time with his family recently in Los Angeles. Mebane’s father, Walter Mebane Jr. and mother Joyce live right across the street from Crenshaw High, where Brandon and his older brother Walter III attended school. Mebane is quietly having a good season after signing a lucrative, $25 million deal during...

Playoffs? Can Hawks “drive” it in?

The Sehaawks need Marshawn Lynch to help sustain longer drives as they make a run at the playoffsI deemed a question appropriate for this headline, as that’s what we are left with, questions. Can the Hawks win out? Will the right teams lose? What about the O-line injuries? Which NFC teams will we beat in a tiebreaker? These are all relative questions pertaining to the Hawks playoff...
