With a new head coach and a new season also come new numbers for the players.
As the voluntary offseason program got underway at Gillette Stadium, the New England Patriots officially announced the number changes for the 2024 season. And one specifically stuck out.

For the returning players, Gonzalez wore number six and Douglas wore 81. But the cornerback's number change is quite significant.
During Bill Belichick's tenure, nobody wore No. 0. And while Gonzalez made it known that was his preferred number before the start of his rookie season, he got stuck with No. 6 for the 2023 season. But 2024 will be whole new game.
And now he gets to return to the number he wore at Oregon.

Many of the players announced their number changes on social media, but it has been made official by the team.
So these are some numbers to look out for once the preseason begins. And we will have some more once the draft concludes.
