NFL News & Rumors:
Less then a week removed from his arrival in New England, Kellen Winslow Jr. is once again unemployed, as the Patriots have decided to grant his wish to be released and cut ties with the former Pro Bowl tight end.
Winslow Jr. reportedly pushed for his departure after he was only on the field for four plays in last Sunday night’s game against the Ravens, according to ESPN Boston beat writer Mike Reiss.
Now in his eight NFL season, Winslow Jr. is almost assuredly going to be out of football the remainder of the season while he continues to deal with an injured knee that clearly isn’t healthy. Provided he can show teams that he’s healthy, Winslow Jr. could be an option for a club in need of veteran depth at the position in the off-season.
