Patriots pressure points: before the snap 9/9/12

The 2012 Patriots regular season starts today, and another playoff run is back in focus. Bill Belichick is trying to get his players to lose the Super Bowl hangover and drink the kool aid once again. The 2012 preseason has brought many questions - the release of Jabar Gaffney, Deion Branch and Donte Stallworth leaves huge gaps to fill. The offensive line has been worked over in...

New England Patriots: A Poor Offensive Line Will Hurt In January

The AFC East will be one of the weakest divisions in 2012, with only the New England Patriots posing any kind of threat to go deep in the playoffs. However, even the Patriots will not be as dominant as they have been in years past due to a below average offensive line, a concept that was previously foreign to Tom Brady.Over the last decade, the formula for having success against...

Logan Mankins' Decision to Play on Torn ACL Shows Determination Patriots Need to Return to Super Bowl

Logan Mankins has been a pillar of the Patriots' offensive line for seven seasons, but in 2011 the All-Pro right guard proved his commitment to the franchise more than ever. During the Patriots' Week 1 win over the Miami Dolphins last year, Mankins tore his anterior cruciate ligament. Mankins not only finished the eventual 38-24 win but also accomplished the rare and almost...

Rob Gronkowski Hauls in TD in Opener

New England tight end Rob Gronkowski hauled in his first touchdown catch of the season Sunday against Tennessee.Fantasy Spin:Gronkowski caught all six passes that came his way and finished with 60 receiving yards. The Patriots didn't air the ball out as often as usual because they were ahead and also because Stevan Ridley was running the ball so effectively. Look for Gronkowski...

Patriots QB Tom Brady Surpasses 40,000 Career Passing Yards

Tom Brady became the 14th player in NFL history to surpass 40,000 career passing yards during the first quarter of the New England Patriots' season opener against the Tennessee Titans. Brady reached the milestone on a 28-yard pass to tight end Rob Gronkowski. Brady also passed John Elway on the NFL's all-time touchdowns list when he hit Aaron Hernandez for a 23-yard touchdown...

Gronkowski Scores A Controversial Touchdown And Celebrates By Slamming The Football Into The Ground

It’s no secret that we really really like Rob Gronkowski at BC. The moment of Gronk posts are always epic. He seems like the absolute opposite of what kind of player that the New England Patriots coach would want. Doing body shots off of girls in Florida? Yeah, BC will be there to cover that. That all doesn’t matter. What matters is that he catches these balls from Tom Brady...

Vote: Are Football or Hockey Players the Tougher Athletes?

It's no secret that you need to be tough to play professional sports. Yet the stories of athletes overcoming pain continue to surprise us time and time again. Mankins had been playing through the entire...

Foxboro Round Table: Record Predictions

Stephen:  Based on their easy schedule and the improvements on defense, I expect the Patriots to go 14-2 during the regular season. I know it's not always fair to judge a strength of schedule based on last year's record, but I still think the Pats are set up for a deep playoff run with the opponents on the docket. During the first eight weeks, the only game they...

Week 1 Risers and Fallers: Pats shut down CJ2K

Will the real CJ2K please stand up?  I don't know who was wearing No. 28 for the Titans on Sunday, but the Patriots managed to put a deathly end to Chris Johnson's proclamation that he'll lead the league in rushing this season.  In New England's 31-13 trouncing of Tennessee, we saw early investments from the 2012 draft class, particularly with Chandler...
