Vince Wilfork's job might be easier without Stephen Jackson charging at him. That doesn't mean the Patriots' defensive tackle wants the Falcons' running back to miss Sunday night's game.
Wilfork figures if New England beats a team that's at full strength, no one can question the victory.
Jackson missed last Sunday's 27-23 loss to the Miami Dolphins with a hamstring injury. That kept him out of practice on Wednesday and Thursday.
But Atlanta has two solid backups. Against Miami, Jacquizz Rodgers rushed for 86 yards and Jason Snelling picked up 53.
The Patriots take a 3-0 record and the NFL's sixth best pass defense against Atlanta's balanced offense. Matt Ryan has dangerous receivers in Julio Jones, Roddy White and Tony Gonzalez.

There is a chance, a slight chance but a chance all the same, that the Patriots’ defense this season is very good. So far in 2013, the New England defense is 4th according to Football Outsiders DVOA efficiency ratings. With that, they have the 4th best pass defense and the 16th ranked rush defense. The only issue with the numbers is that the level of competition that New England...
Patriots head coach Bill Belichick acknowledged that tight end Rob Gronkowski has made some progress.
After giving the media a little something, he went back to being saying very little.
Belichick was asked how much Gronk can help them in the red zone.
“I don’t know,” said Belichick.
With the Patriots current receiver situation in dire straights, Gronk will help them tremendously...

The New England Patriots are 3-0, and in any other city the fans would probably skipping work and talking about Super Bowls.

FOXBORO, Mass. — Minutes after Marquice Cole‘s name was cryptically left off the Patriots’ injury report after being listed with a hamstring injury all week, the cornerback was released.
This is the second time Cole has been released by New England this season. He was initially cut on Sept. 1 just to be re-signed the next day.
Cole signed with the Patriots last season. He...
FOXBORO, Mass. — The Patriots have been without their star tight end for the first three weeks of the season, but that could change this Sunday night.
Bill Belichick said Rob Gronkowski has “definitely made progress” in his recovery from forearm and back surgeries. Gronkowski has been practicing with the team for weeks now.
Belichick would not say (in the most hilarious...
Ben Volin of the Boston Globe reports that sources have informed him that Patriots could have both WR Danny Amendola and TE Rob Gronkowski available for Sunday’s game against the Falcons.

For the second consecutive day, New England Patriots right tackle Sebastian Vollmer was absent from practice Thursday. Vollmer missed the second half of last Sunday's victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, after injuring his foot. The Boston Herald reported Wednesday that the injury to Vollmer's foot is not as serious as feared:According to a source, Vollmer suffered a ...
The Patriots have to be the only franchise in the NFL that wouldn’t be pleased with a 3-0 start to the season. Blame it on their sustained success over the years, but all is not right in New England. At least according to Tom Brady. Brady hasn’t played great (57.2 completion percentage & a 79.4 […]
