Sitting atop their respective divisions, the New England Patriots take on an NFC East foe in the New York Giants. The term “foe” is used lightly as the Giants and Patriots rarely face off against one another as this is the first time the two teams will meet up since that faithful day in 2008. ESPN and other media outlets try their hardest to make the Patriots and Jets rivalry as big and as fanatic as Red Sox versus Yankees, but no amount of Belichick versus who ever the Jets have as coach drama will make that so. Giants versus Patriots has more cache as the Giants are the prodigal sons of New York whereas the Jets play second fiddle. Not to mention the Giants have had more success as an overall franchise and their coaches are usually well spoken, mild-mannered, thin guys instead of boisterous, foot fetished, fat slobs. That’s not fair. Fetished isn’t a word. In any event, the lack of fake TV pre-game drama for this match-up is a little disheartening as both teams are leading their respected divisions, albeit in the case of the Patriots, they’re sharing the lead with another team from New York not named the Jets, the [...]

Patriots K Stephen Gostkowski describes “the worst feeling”

One of the under-the-radar failings by the Patriots came at the end of the first half. Kicker Stephen Gostkowski flubbed a 27-yard field goal attempt, just his fourth miss from between 20 and 29 yards in his career. Afterward, as a true professional, he talked about it. “Bad kick,” the former Pro Bowler told me. “Don’t know what else to say. Not a very good job.” I asked...

Former Patriot says Belichick paid him to start fights in practice

Belichick paid player to start fights?

Former NFL defensive lineman Chad Eaton added to the growing mystique of Bill Belichick's coaching prowess, saying the coach would pay him on the side for starting fights during practice. Eaton, who played 10 seasons in the NFL with four different teams, was on the Cleveland Browns' practice squad in 1995 when then-head coach Belichick forged the private arrangement with...

2011 Fantasy Football, Week 9 Sit 'Em Start 'Em: Time For A Big Bounce Back From Wes Welker?

Wes Welker (credits below) With tremendous thanks to Brett Talley (@therealTAL) for filling in for me the past few weeks, herewith is Week Nine’s Sit/Start: QB Start: Matt Cassel, Kansas City The Dolphins are not bad – they’ve been tied or ahead in almost every game this year – but they do tend to give up a lot of air yards (including 345 to Eli Manning last week). Injury Report Week 9 NY Giants vs New England Patriots

The injury report for the week 9 game between the NY Giants and New England Patriots is long for both teams. New England has 11 players listed while New York has 12 players listed on their injury report list. Out of the 12 players 3 key Giants starters are doubtful which include WR Hakeem Nicks, Center David Baas and of course Ahmad Bradshaw who has a stress fracture on his foot...

Another Giant Disappointment For Patriots

Eli Manning did it to the Patriots again, leading a last second touchdown drive to beat New England after the Patriots had just scored a touchdown of their own to take a late lead. The Patriots defense had some decent moments yesterday, but simply could not get it done when it counted, allowing the Giants to march down the field for the winning score in just under 100 seconds of...

Former defensive lineman Eaton says Belichick used to pay him to start fights in practice

Generally speaking, football coaches have mixed responses to player fights in practice. On the public side, they will usually say that the lack of discipline inherent in such extracurricular activity goes against everything they're trying to establish. But in their hearts of hearts, a high percentage of those same coaches would tell you, if pressed, that a little unscheduled...
