According to ESPN Boston, the New England Patriots hosted formerIndianapolis Colts tight end Dallas Clark for a workout at Gillette Stadium on Tuesday.

The 32-year-old Clark is currently looking for a new team as it’s clear that the Colts have moved on without, just like Peyton Manning, as they drafted tight ends Coby Fleener and Dwayne Allen just a few weeks ago.

This past season Clark just wasn’t as effective as he’s been in year’s past, and most of that has to do with Curtis Painter and Dan Orlovsky throwing passes to him rather than Manning. Clark recorded 34 catches for 352 yards and just two touchdowns.

This is an interesting piece of news considering that the Patriots already have the top tight end tandem in the NFL with Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez—and not to mention that they added Daniel Fells earlier this offseason as well as signing Brad Herman out of Iowa, an undrafted free agent.

If Clark can contribute, then the Patriots would be more than welcome to bringing him aboard—just another weapon for Tom Brady to utilize as he’ll already be welcoming Brandon Lloyd and Anthony Gonzalez as well as welcoming back Donte Stallworth and Jabar Gaffney.

A Far-Too-Early Patriots Roster Preview (Bias Included)

Now that New England’s rookie mini-camp has wrapped up, it’s high time we put together the roster for 2012. (Is it really high time? No, not at all. But with all these players in Foxboro, the temptation proved too much.) OFFENSE Quarterback: Tom Brady, Brian Hoyer, Ryan Mallett. Notable Omission: None. Yes, it takes a pair the size of duffle bags to pencil in Brady as starter...

Colts Release TE Brody Eldridge

The Colts have cut TE Brody Eldridge, a 2010 fifth round draft choice. Eldridge was largely a blocking tight end, catching only 14 receptions for 84 yards in 27 games. Nevertheless, it seemed like his role as a depth blocking tight end was fairly assured during the 2012 season.  Eldridge was replaced by QB David Legree, a free agent quarterback out of Hampton University.  This...

Report: Patriots not happy with Wes Welker going public

Getty Images Wes Welker recently stated that since he signed his franchise tender things have only gotten worse with his contract negotiations with the New England Patriots.  He claims that they have actually offered him less money then their original offer since signing the tender. According to Shalise Manza Young of the Boston Globe, the Patriots aren’t too happy about the...

Wes Welker: Contract talks with the Patriots have “gotten worse”

Getty Images New England Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker has come out and said that since he signed his franchise tender, contract talks between his representatives and the Patriots have only gotten worse. “There have been talks, but nothing that’s brightened anything at all,” Welker said. “It’s actually gotten worse.” Welker admitted that he went against the advice...

Things are beginning to get ugly between Wes Welker and the Patriots

One would’ve never thought the day would come that Wes Welker’s relationship with the Patriots was so strained that he could possibly be on his way out of New England. Yes, there are contract issues, but that’s pretty normal in the world of professional sports. The athlete thinks he’s worth one thing and the team thinks he’s worth another. That’s just the way it works...

Wes Welker upset with current contract talks with New England Patriots

New England Patriots WR Wes Welker was unhappy this Spring when the franchise slapped the franchise tag on him. Welker eventually succumbed to the tag and signed his tender offer this week. Now, Welker is unhappy with the club once again over the current state of contract talks with the Patriots. Welker, speaking on the current status of his contract talks with the club, told the...

Colts cut TE Brody Eldridge, add another QB

The Indianapolis Colts have cut tight end Brody Eldridge and brought in another quarterback. Eldridge played two seasons in Indy after the Colts took him in the fifth round of the 2010 draft. In 27 games, he caught 14 passes for 84 yards but was primarily a blocker. Indy took two tight ends in April -- Stanford's Coby Fleener in the second round and Clemson's Dwayne Allen...

Indianapolis Colts Fantasy Football Projections

QB Andrew Luck (Indianapolis) Like Robert Griffin, Andrew Luck should be a solid QB1 with upside as a rookie. I expect him to have better passing numbers than either Newton or Griffin, but he won’t match either of their rushing numbers, which is why Griffin has the advantage over Luck in fantasy, at least for this year. Projection: 4000 passing yards, 23 passing touchdowns, 14...

Best AFC South WR seasons

Nate Dunlevy offers up four candidates for the best season by a wide receiver in the AFC South. I know you're all aching to vote for Andre Johnson but you may want to consider the credentials of a certain Tastykake-loving wideout: How good was Marvin Harrison in 2002? So good that I can't even consider Reggie Wayne's 2007 masterpiece as the Indianapolis nominee.

Colts Waive TE Brody Eldridge, Sign Free Agent QB David Legree

The Colts announced today they have waived tight end Brody Eldridge and signed undrafted free agent quarterback David Legree. In two seasons with the Colts, Eldridge saw action in 27 games and totaled 14 receptions for 84 yards. Legree, 6-4, 225 pounds, began his collegiate career at Syracuse before transferring to Hampton University at the conclusion of the 2008 campaign. Last season...
