The game had all the trimmings of an upset as Matt Light was a late scratch and it took a half for Santa to arrive. Shuffling the offensive line, Logan Mankins started his 1st NFL game at left tackle. It lasted less than one quarter when Mankins went down with a leg injury. Rookie Nate Solder moved over from right guard to replace Mankins, and another rookie, Marcus Cannon took over at right guard. Tom Brady (304 yards, 1 Pass TD, 2 Rush TD) wasn’t comfortable at all, as he had as many completions as sacks (3) in the first half. Miami took off fast behind the running of Reggie Bush (22 CAR, 113 YDS) and the receiving of Brandon Marshall (7 REC, 156 YDS, 1 TD). The Dolphin took a 17-0 lead into the half and looked primed to upset the Patriots.
