The New England Patriots (6-3) have released Deion Branch for the second time this season and brought Greg Salas up from the practice squad to the 53-man roster, Tom Curran of CSNNE.com reports.
Selected in the fourth round (112th overall) in 2011, Salas was mostly a factor on special teams in St. Louis. He was traded two and a half months ago to the Patriots on Sept. 1.
However, apparently the team didn’t think he was ready, as Branch was brought back into the fold and Salas was waived a week after joining the roster and subsequently signed to the practice squad. The second-year receiver also received a pay raise while on the practice squad to keep him from leaving in search of seeing the field for another team.

The Patriots have released Deion Branch and Malcolm Williams. Greg Salas and Aqib Talib are added to the 53. #PatriotsTalk— Tom E. Curran (@tomecurran) November 17, 2012Again with this? To be fair, Branch has done next to nothing since being brought back to the Patriots. Still, it seems odd that Branch would not be immune to Belichick's constant roster toying. You would think...
In a surprising move on Saturday, the New England Patriots cut wide receiver Deion Branch for the second time in less than three months, opening up a roster spot for Aqib Talib and promoting Greg Salas from the practice squad. While that move may be bad news for Branch, it could be good news for fantasy football owners of Wes Welker and Brandon Lloyd.
First off, if you owned Branch...
The Patriots are going to try and throw everything they have at Andrew Luck this week.
After a rough Week 10, I'm sitting at 92-54-1. Who wants to keep track of a tie.
Let's see if I can turn this around this week.

New England tight end Aaron Hernandez has officially been ruled out for Sunday's game against Indianapolis. He's still recovering from a sprained ankle.Fantasy Spin:Hernandez is taking an awfully long time to recover and at this point, it's safe for fantasy owners to abandon him. Rob Gronkowski remains the only startable Patriots tight end for fantasy purposes.
Rob Gronkowski had another record-breaking performance during the Patriots’ blowout win over the Colts on Sunday. But it was a very different kind of break that may be the real story.
In the midst of a seven-catch, 137-yard, two-touchdown performance, Gronkowski reportedly broke his forearm and could be out for 4-6 weeks. The broken bone was the lone bit of misfortune in an otherwise...

I was planning on waxing eloquent about the Patriots huge victory tonight, but at the moment, I'm just trying to fight my way out of the catatonic state that Rob Gronkowski's broken forearm has put me in...
Let's skip over the big story for a moment though, and concentrate on what was a truly excellent game by the Patriots. I missed the better part of the 1st half...
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- The New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts, two old rivals, met Sunday for the first time since Peyton Manning moved on to Denver.
