Alfonzo Dennard, the former University of Nebraska cornerback accused of hitting a police officer, will be arraigned on a charge of third-degree felony assault of an officer on May 30, says the Omaha World-Herald. Dennard was charged with the crime just five days before the NFL Draft. He had expected to be a second or third-round choice, but the cornerback slid all the way to the seventh round before the New England Patriots finally took a chance on him. He had been the Big Ten's Defensive Back of the Year in 2011. If convicted, Dennard could face up to five years in prison.
